Are red or white wines better for dates?

That is true. Also a good rule of thumb to have. Thank you annanova.

If you take your date to a wine tasting, you can let the guy with the big corkscrew line up a grand assortment

plus.. then.. you can learn if she's a spitter :D

a wine tasting might be nice. usually the wines are already uncorked.
i'm ignoring the last part of your comment b/c i find it disgusting and someting Quagmire might say.

but.. but.. but..

you're not supposed to swallow at a wine tasting!

I'll just echo what everyone else said. Find out what she likes. That's the best way. Personally I want a white wine, a Reisling if at all possible. I don't care if it matches the meal. That said if I'm at a nicer restaurant and there is a sommelier there to match the wine, that is always fun! I've found many great wines that way.

Thank you Lexie. I know she is not a big drinker. I think she likes white. Prosecco I believe but I will ask her for sure next time I see her. That will hopefully be tomorrow. That is also a really good idea about a sommelier to match wine. Possibly with some pate or cheese and crackers.

Do you ever find yourself sitting there, enjoying a meal one minute, and the next minute freaking out becase you discovered food in your mouth and didn't know how it got there?

Use whichever wine gets them drunk faster....that seems the only thing that can help me out at times...:D

That wasn't my point. If my date gets drunk then yes her inhibitions will be lowered but I am not the kind of man to take advantage of that.

Prosecco with pate, cheese and crackers? Sounds like a winner to me!

jeff, I can't imagine you need that kind of help!

Never underestimate the "pigginess" of me.....date rape drugs can get you in jail...costing you valuable time and money...so, why NOT stick to a gallon of Boone's Farm's finest! Doesn't cost much, and the woman still can't see me well enough to say no...a win-win...:D

I'd say red wine! Dark dark red! There's something sexy about lipstick on a wine glass half full of Pinot noir.

Your a good man Beck! As a woman I think a slight buzz is better than drunk sex! It's that moment when I get that, "red wine, lip numbing," sensation it is sex time by my book!

I LOVE that feeling. However, the feeling pretty much wears off by the time we get home.

Champagne in bed. Now THAT'S another story!

Mmmmm YUMMY! I have so many kids, I just saw "date" as time alone on the deck with hubby! Lol nothing quite like a "deck date!"

If this date thing is going to take a while.. a few of us ladies could probably do a little wine tasting.. or a virtual champagne hot tub.. and give some feedback.

strictly in the name of research.. of course

You bring up a point, whether you wanted to or not. ;) Sparkling wines are another choice to consider.

Time of year as well. Summer time I would offer a Sangria. Winter time, mulled wine by the fire.
