I was not sure where else to post the question. It is primarily aimed at the women but men can feel to answer as well.

This is entirely personal but I prefer white. Whether sweet, dry or between they generally have a lighter, crisper flavor. also, I don't worry as much about spilling white wine either :) Spilled glass of red wine can really be a mess when out on a date

I prefer sweet reds (sickeningly sweet in some opinions) but it really does depend what you are serving with it. If it is for drinks after dinner, ask to be shown to the good dessert wine section. People who are shopping for wine at the same time as you are usually happy to give you their opinion on what is good or awful, as well. good luck and let us know what you chose. :)

Some people prefer red, some people prefer white. Find out what she prefers and serve that.

I prefer red wine. Not that fussed about white and equally not fussed about whether the wine I'm drinking is supposed to go with the food I'm eating. I still prefer red whether it's with chicken, pork, beef, pizza or beans on toast.

I myself prefer sweeter wines.

And there is the perfect comment. :)

You should ASK a date what he/she likes and serve that. I prefer different wines at different times of the year but there are some some things I never care for. If I give a dinner party it's not unusual for me to have a few choices to cover a number of people's taste with wines that go with different courses.

When is your next soirée?

Intriguing. I had hitherto never thought of wine preference as a primary female field before

Thank you. I am never sure on the rule of thumb. I think she likes white. Not 100% sure though.
I like red. Should I ask what kind of wine she likes and then bring that or bring both?

I have never tried dipping dates in any wine, the little pronged stick can be fun to play with though .:D
