I recently saw another thread regarding a TO get together, and was thinking that perhaps an Ottawa one would be kinda fun... If there's anyone from Ottawa or close that might be intersted, post here!

Lets all meet around the flame on parliment hill for a reading of our favorite works.

I'll bet there are some hill folk who at least view this site.

That is an awesome idea. Anyone else up for it??? I was thinking evening would be a good time for me. I'm a single mom so time is a bit of a restraint for me. We could do that then go to a coffee shop or a pub for drinks after.... Sound good?

Bel

Hey Bel,

GrEAT idea,

How about Saturday evening. We would like to cum join you. devil:

I wasn't really thinking anything quite that soon, we need time to get ppl together. Besides, I work this saturday until 8 PM and have an out of town concert to play Sunday morning.

I know we were planning for a reading, but what about the people who are primarily readers? I guess we could always find another way to get them involved, anyone got any ideas???

Bel

Yikes!

I was actually kidding about a public reading around the flame on the hill. The idea of reading erotica while others are protesting East Timor (insert cause here) strikes me as humourous.
[''be careful of what you wish for ...you might just get it"]

The coffee or drinks sounds a bit more my speed.

But I hardly know ya! This Saturday is a bit too soon for me.

;)

I honestly thought the idea was kind of cool to have a reading of our stuff, I guess the reason why the hill was cool in my head was because of what it would represent. I mean, with the whole censorship thing/ freedom of speech thing. I guess it would also ba a way for us to show them that despite the shit going on in the world, we still could get togehter to share a passion, even if it is something like sex. I don't give a shit, I'm a nympho and I'm not gonna hide it from anyone, not even my mother. Coffee is more something my style anyways. It's really too bad that "The Steaming Bean" is no more. I wouldn't meet anyone as soon as Saturday anyways, I was just trying to find a polite way to not do it. I'm not really comfortable with the idea yet, I just thought it might be interesting.

Great Idea, Bel! It may be a bit premature, however... :(

There are others on Lit. locally, also - but they like their privacy, Net-wise/RL-wise.

In time perhaps we could have a get-together - as you get to "know" various folks on the Board, more Eastern Ontario folks may "come out"

Lit. folks tend to be a bit cautious - Me I am who I am, and am not ashamed to be here. ;)

The Coffee thing may work for starters, though. :)

Tonight would be a great night to sip a beer overlooking the canal or river.

Can you tell I'm new to Ottawa?

:D

That's why I started the thread, just to get to know others from Ottawa. I know it's not gonna be anytime soon, I just thought that it would be nice eventually. I guess I posted my real pic because I too am proud to be who I am, if a co worker sees me on the site and confronts me about it, I guess it could start an interesting conversation. It would be kind of funny tho if they told me that they thought I was bad for reading/writing on here...

Bel

I'm certainly not ashamed to be here.

But as you say Jimi, some people are just cautious.

Bel.....don't laugh... but when I first saw your photo I thought that I recognized you .
From where I have no idea.
And I really probably have never seen you.
But you never know. Maybe you were in front of me at a concert , grocery store, or something like that.

Anyway, the idea of getting to know people here (on here) is a good one. As a new member I am surprised how nice the atmosphere is.

And about the co-worker seeing you on here.....I don't think they would confront you in a negative way. Or think that you're reading/writing here was a bad thing. After all, if its so bad what are they doing here ? ;) :D

Mark

Mark,

Hey, you never know, maybe we wnet to high school together or something. Most of us are nice ppl, the atmosphere is great. I missed it when my comp was down... how silly

"After all, if its so bad what are they doing here ? "

My thoughts exactly :D

Bel

Well, maybe.

But I went to high school in London Ont.

What a beautiful day (Tuesday).......who'll join me in a bycicle ride along the river?
Some wine and fruit as a picnic ?
Blanket spread out under a tree.....

and thee

:)

Well, if I hadn't been at work... I think it was probably too hot anyways... or would have gotten too hot ;)

Bel

No kidding about the heat.

It wouldn't take much to get "too" hot .

The phrase "glistening bodies" springs to mind.

;)

it's too nasty to be outside my air conditioned house.... unfortunately I played an outdoor concert tonight and was sitting right in the sun. Darn skirt got soaked...

Bel

Oh, what I would have given to have seen that concert!

.....ok ok .....the soaking skirt is so appealing , but I'm sure you played beautifully.

Its just my bedroom that's air conditioned so I'm finding lots of reasons to spend more time in there these last few days. The heat does have its good side. ;)

Mark

Well, we play at a really nice park in the bandshell every second wednesday in the summer. I don't really feel comfortable saying which park on an open message board, but if you ever figure it out.... It was great. The conductor asked me before hand if we could play the Beautiful Danube Waltz (it has a lot of difficult parts for me, and solos...) and I said it was ok, it ended up being the best I've ever played it! Despite the soaked skirt, it was fantastic. I only wish I had AC in my bedroom.... of course, I could always join you:D

Bel

I'm sure that Johann never sounded nicer.
:)

I did look around a little bit and discovered a few other concerts and similar events that I'm going to try and get to. Whether they are yours I don't know. I understand about the public board and things. Ottawa seems to have a lot going on.
The idea of a outdoor bandshell , a cooling breeze, nice music is very appealing.
Almost as appealing as discussing Strauss in my AC cooled bedroom :D

Mark

ps.....darn....the weather is cooling off , I'll have to think of something more to offer than airconditioning ;)

Wow, a man who knows his music...

It's really great to have those concerts in the park. I really enjoy playing there. It's a great variety of music, from classical to big band. Well, if you discover which one it is, would you walk up to me and introduce yourself, or just remain anonymous? Just curious.

Strauss in the bedroom, huh? What about Suppe in the shower? ;) As for the weather getting colder, perhaps you have a nice fuzzy blankie???

Bel

hey BELL .
prehaps I should make it up to my old ALMA MATER before the snow fly's ..been awhile

Hummm, It depends on what you were doing. If you were sitting under a tree alone I might. But honestly, I think I would probably remain anonymous. At this stage anyway. Maybe when I get to 100 posts and can put up my own picture :p Just so I wouldn't be a surprise to you.

Suppe in the shower?
Is that like the drop the soap game? I've played that before. Lots of fun.

I do have a nice fuzzy blankie and soft flannel sheets too. Not the most sexy types of sheets but oh so comfy on those chilly nights. Silk and satin do have their place.....but Ottawa in January ?

Well, post away....

Well, we could play drop the soap as Suppe spills forth from the CD player:D I agree, fuzzy and flannel are more Winter things, and the soft textures against my skin.... I must admit I had a nice soft blanket once and it was heaven against my naked body.

Bel

Ohhhh...that Suppe!

"Ein Morgen, ein Mittag und ein Abend in Wien" sounds like a wonderful idea but do we have to go all the way to Vienna ? ;)

Isn't it a coincidence that my soft blanket feels like heaven against my naked body. What are the odds ? Might it be possible that your lost blanket is the exact same kind as mine?

All this talk about naked bodies and blankets.....I wonder if there's a story out there that I can find?

Or write?
