Anyone for a nightcap?

I wonder what Ben Graham would be thinking if he could watch what's been going on in our markets the last few years.

A 36-hour hangover is quite an accomplishment. Must have been more than a couple of those satanic bud lights, no?

I'm not sure I would consider it an accomplishment. I certainly would prefer not to do it ever again. Or at least for a very long while.

And it was the martinis that did me in. Not a beer in sight.

As for the market? Mr. Graham might now be willing to cede somewhat to Modern Portfolio Theory which says that no one can beat the market. Well, it says more than that, actually...but it seems appropriate to mention this characteristic this week anyway.

Mirrasou Chard about to be poured. No more financial talk from me until Tuesday.

Coffee tonight. I am going to sell as many 15 dollar tzchotchkes as I can tomorrow - low priced should still move no matter what.

If I do not recoup my small fee I sank into this then there'll be drinking and crying.

This is the only thread for which I feel time zones are a pain in the ass LOL

At least it looks like today I can join the coffee drinking Netzach :rose:

Rooting for your sales :)

Im sitting here having a starbucks liquor with hot choclate with a very goo friend trying to relax... hoping to sleep tonight..

Since tomorrow is a holiday, I am abdicating my no weeknight drinking position and am drinking a Cab whose name I have already forgotten. Its OK, but it went better with my lovely dinner than my mainstay Chard (or Bud Light) would.

Netzach, how did it go today? Can we assume your absence tonight means celebratory activities?

Rida, we drink coffee here too... nightcaps might be misleading since we drink a variety of beverages at all times of the day on occasion.

SKL, were you able to sleep after Starbucks and hot chocolate last night? I know I couldn't... :(

Cheers

Skating through today....
Wishing work didn't loom tomorrow....

Sadly, just water tonight. Not even fancy flavored water.

Today was an ordinary work day for me, but tonight I'm looking at my mouthwash bottle with a glint in my eye. ;)

It is around noon of a working day, and I could surely do with a drink.

Honestly, stopping at the SevenEleven on my way to work I was tempted to get me a can of booze, but I got Milk Tea instead (should have doctored with Brandy ...)

5 more hours or so before I can call it a day ...

Alice White Chardonnay South Eastern Australia 2006 (85 points, $7)

Soft and ripe, with a spicy, almost Viognier-like character to the pear and orange flavors

mmm

For anyone who subscribes to/reads Gourmet Magazine, the November issue has a list of decent wines under $15. Of the list, the Chateau Ste Michelle Riesling is the only one I have tried and it was not my personal taste. Actually, I am not really a Riesling person. However I am game to try the others on their list.

I wish there were more recommendations, anywhere, of decent wines in the under $15 (or under $10) range. I know those wines are out there....

And I have to get out of my robotic Mirrasou or Smoking Loon rut.

I think I've seen this in the stores around here. Will have to double check and give it a try if it is.

Not exactly what you might call a nightcap, but I am thoroughly looking forward to the Twix bar I've been saving as a reward for finishing the study guide for my science midterm tonight.

Please tell me that this is TNG code for getting spanked by some new-wave electrified kinky taser. Please.

drinking a cheap italian red and eating hershey's dark chocolate chips. Yuppie slummin'

Today was kind of a bitch. I cannot fix everything or everyone. Whadya gonna do. Something has happened over the last couple of weeks. My anxiety levels are way down, and I am really conscious of what I don't have control over, and the tools I have to deal with stress.

I also am not on anxiety meds anymore. Maybe the slow weaning off made things worse? I don't know, but it wasn't too long ago that I posted here feeling kind of down and crappy. I don't feel that low level of anxiousness anymore. At one point those meds served me well, but I feel so much better now and I'm not on anything, 'cept a bit of cheapo red.

I ate good, healthy food tonight. Against all of the Friday night odds.

Having a little tipple, though, of an Absolut Citron and tonic. Vodka only makes an appearance 2 or 3 times a year for me. But I was in the mood as the lemons on my backyard tree will be ready to pick in the next few weeks...

And citrus...my lemons, oranges and grapefruits....are on my mind right now...

(note that I pretty much kill everything in my garden other than my citrus. The masochists of the plant world, I think...)

bumpity bump. I think I may go to sleep by 9. That's hot.

Haha! Not me...With the exception of Tuesday night, I have been to sleep by 9 every night this week. Tonight I think its time to catch up on being awake during evening hours. :D

And, I am enjoying Chateau St Jean Chardonnay at the moment. Very nice.

I'm exhausted over obsessing the details of preschool. I'm so over myself.
