Jesus, God, we agree on a few things.
We have light rail - just not enough of it going to the right places. When it was designed they thought the jobs would be downtown, but instead they are everywhere BUT. And what kind of rail transit system doesn't take you to the ball park? It may be too late to fix. Had they done some intelligent planning to begin with, office buildings and businesses would have clustered around mass transit. Now it's so spread out they could never build enough to meet the demand. Can't expect much different from the good old gummint.
The biggest problem with City politics is race. The field of candidates is very limited. Black candidates win and white candidates lose, the exact opposite of 40 years ago. The result then and now is corruption, because once elected, they are in until term limitations kick them out. People don't bother voting for anyone else. Can you say Strom Thurmond?
I'm interested in what you mean by a "Progressive" Black candidate.........
