So...
My laptop of 9 years finally gave up the ghost. First it was the WIFI, then the Sound Card and finally the Disk/Video controller. And that was that for my Gateway/Acer. Nine years isn't bad for a laptop. I have had HP's kick after two years. Nice metal case, heavy ass, HP laptops. Of course those belonged to my employers. They weren't really mine.
Anyway...
I ordered a new Acer laptop from Walmart on Black Friday. Good laptop for the price. It got here yesterday, well not here, but my local Walmart. They actually use FedEx to ship it from their warehouse in DFW to Houston. One day delivery and that's free. One day delivery to my place would be another $15.
So all day yesterday and today I spend getting it in shape. It came with Windows 10. At first it didn't seem so bad. Man was I mistaken. There are still so many bugs and fuck ups in the damn system it's almost useless.
You can't even get Windows Explorer, now renamed Windows File Explorer, to work the same as it does in all ( I don't know about Win8 ) previous versions of Windows. Even though all the same checkboxes are checked. I doesn't stop you from using the POS, it's just aggravating.
What does stop you is having to select the same program to run twice. The first time you chose it, it looks like its going to run, but poof, it disappears. You have to open File Explorer again and click on the thing you want a second time. Then it runs.
I am beside myself...oh there I am over there...with my hatred of Microsoft for fucking up there Operating System of the Century, Windows 7.
I have found more bugs in Win10 than I found in Win 3.1 way back when.
Now some of you are going to say...Virus...except the laptop wasn't hooked up to the network until this afternoon. And my virus software didn't find any, nor my malware software.
Windows 10 is just so fucked up. If I could afford it right now I would wipe the harddrive and purchase a Win7 license. Maybe next month.
