Has anyone planted pumkins before?? Do I make little hills and put 2 or 3 seeds in each hill? When should I fertilize them and with what N,P,K, mixture

I just make a long row long hill like for cucumbers or strawberrys and liberally sprinkle seeds {6 a foot linear}

no fertalizer

but once they start growing, get a needle and inject 1/8th cup a whole milk{not that crappy skim and 2% watered down stuff} every two day directly into the pumpkins

Scroll down until you get to fertilizer requirements. I don't know why the hell you would want to inject anything into a pumpkin, especially milk, which is a perfect medium for breeding bacteria. Poking a hole in the pumpkin and injecting milk in is going to do nothing but let disease and insects in and let it rot faster.

It was dumb luck Todd, not the milk. Imagine all the cereal you could have had.

Thank you all!! I intend to grow about 20 pumkins, for my self and others and I intend to try the milk injection trick.

Please explain the milk thing again, in more detail. Do I use a little needle like from the Dr office or bigger? If bigger than were do I get it? And when do I start doing this? After the pumkin is 2 or more lbs heavy, every TWO days!!?? thats a lot work. I would like to try it on a few pumkins just to see what happens.
