American Taxpayers Spent $1.4 Billion On Obama Family Last Year While Brits Only Spent $57.8 Million On Royals…

Via Daily Caller:

Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.

In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.

Author Robert Keith Gray writes in “Presidential Perks Gone Royal” that Obama isn’t the only president to have taken advantage of the expensive trappings of his office. But the amount of money spent on the first family, he argues, has risen tremendously under the Obama administration and needs to be reined in.

Gray told The Daily Caller that the $1.4 billion spent on the Obama family last year is the “total cost of the presidency,” factoring the cost of the “biggest staff in history at the highest wages ever,” a 50 percent increase in the numbers of appointed czars and an Air Force One “running with the frequency of a scheduled air line.”

“The most concerning thing, I think, is the use of taxpayer funds to actually abet his re-election,” Gray, who worked in the Eisenhower administration and for other Republican presidents, said in an interview with TheDC on Wednesday

...

To make the comparison worse, the income from the Crown Estates goes to the UK Government and they give the Royal Family SOME of it back. The Royals are a net asset to the UK government.

The Royals are a net asset to the UK government.

Let us put this in perspective.

The Royal family doesn't actually run the Britain. So basically, GB threw away 58 million on a family whose only job is to put a pretty face on.

Let us, also, not forget that the US is 40 times larger than United Kingdom.

The UK is not nearly even close to having the same influence in the world as the US does, so they don't travel nearly as much, or require the same amount of protection as a US president.

I am kind of curious to know how much Bushy Jr cost us with the amount of vacations he took. I mean seriously, he was the least working president in modern history.

When you add the days President Bush spent at Kennebunkport, Maine, he spent a total of 1,020 days away from the White House — close to 3 years. At 1,020 days, Bush was close to being on vacation more days than President John F. Kennedy’s total days in office (1,036). Representatives at the Nixon and Johnson Libraries indicate those two Presidents were on vacation less than 1,000 days during their terms.

So why, then, do Republicans champion everyone paying some amount of federal income tax?

Fox News poll: 79 percent say all Americans should pay income taxes

A large majority of likely voters believes all Americans should pay some federal income tax -- even if it is as little as one percent of what they make.

Seventy-nine percent say everyone should pay something, according to a Fox News poll released Thursday. That includes 85 percent of Republicans, 83 percent of independents and 71 percent of Democrats.

You know this nation has gone statist when the so-called "conservatives" favor taxing every citizen in the socialist name of "fairness"...

...knowing all along that whatever more amount of taxation you provide corrupt government, the more wasteful that government will spend it.

Friggin' partisan hacks...

They're probably tired of carrying the whole load.

And if they were actually "conservative"...

...they'd be looking for legal ways to lessen their individual load rather than championing its redistribution more evenly throughout the collective in the name of "fairness".
