I wonder if the captain starting turning the ship to the side hoping for what actually did happen or if he just got totally lucky. I'd suspect a little of both.

i think it was luck and the current that moved his boat sideways like that , simply amazing whatever the cause result
 
I clicked on this thread wondering what the hell could be so amazing about a tugboat story. Very amazing.

Boats are scary. I spend a lot of time on cruise ships staring down at the black water at night, imagining what I'd do if the ship suddenly started sinking. The stuff of nightmares.

I haven't done cruise ships yet but i have down the Island to mainland ferry from NB to PEI 1hr45 trip and have looked over wondering very similar thoughts DCL.
