I have to assume that the attorney general is finally about to do what Justice Department regs called for him to do the moment he was confirmed two and a half years ago: appoint a special counsel for what the Justice Department brands the “Hunter Biden” case. We shall see. If I’m right, look for three things:

First, is the appointee a former prosecutor from outside the government (as the regs require) who has a reputation for non-partisan scrupulousness and rigor in enforcing the law?

Second, is the appointee a new broom that sweeps clean? That is, will the special counsel bring in a new staff to take a fresh look at the Biden scandal, or will he or she just be a figurehead who creates the illusion of detachment from Biden Justice Department supervision but actually retains the same Biden Justice Department lawyers? (As I noted earlier in the week, the Mar-a-Lago documents case is still being run by Jay Bratt, the same Biden Justice Department official who investigated it prior to the special-counsel appointment of Jack Smith.)

Third, will the special counsel be given a sweeping mandate to investigate and prosecute any and all crimes uncovered in an inquiry into the Biden family influence-peddling business (much like Garland gave Jack Smith a sweeping mandate to investigate Donald Trump for document-retention crimes, post-2020-election crimes, and any other crimes discovered during the probe)? Or will Garland draw a narrow remit that limits the special counsel to Hunter Biden’s tax and gun crimes?

We’ll know soon enough.

Shut up BB. All you fucking do is spam the forum with useless rambling threads.

It'll be interesting to see, or will he just be spouting off more inane bullshit. Another one that needs to be impeached anyhow, regardless

If justice is involved it might be to announce an investigation into Jared Kushner and his sale of American secrets to Saudi Arabia for $2billiion and leading to the death of the American journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

An effort designed to slow down the congressional investigation and hide behind an "ongoing investigation." This is Merrick Garland protecting Joe Biden. Weiss will now be able to tie up the investigations of Joe Biden and Hunter Biden and then after the election he can declare he found nothing of substance. I think this could result in the defunding of certain DOJ budget priorities.

Garland violates federal law by appointing Weise. The Special Counsel law requires a Special Counsel must be from outside the government. Every day that Weiss is o the job the statute of limitations runs. Take note:

28 CFR § 600.3 Qualifications of the Special Counsel.
(a) An individual named as Special Counsel shall be a lawyer with a reputation for integrity and impartial decisionmaking, and with appropriate experience to ensure both that the investigation will be conducted ably, expeditiously and thoroughly, and that investigative and prosecutorial decisions will be supported by an informed understanding of the criminal law and Department of Justice policies. The Special Counsel shall be selected from outside the United States Government. Special Counsels shall agree that their responsibilities as Special Counsel shall take first precedence in their professional lives, and that it may be necessary to devote their full time to the investigation, depending on its complexity and the stage of the investigation.

This. Investigate them all and shut the Trumpettes up.

Rules of the DOJ are that if a special counsel is selected the individual has to be outside the DOJ and I believe outside the government. Sham! Sham! Sham! You’re absolutely correct this is nothing more than a stalling tactic. Garland should be impeached for obstruction of justice.

Well, according to 28 CFR 600.3 his action to appoint Weiss is illegal. Special Counsel Jack Smith may be illegal under the same law as well. It is time to impeach Merrick Garland and past due as far as Biden is concerned. It's been quite clear that Democrats have no respect for the law.

Anything Smith touches will be appealed on precedent, failure to follow well established rules and norms. Start with 28 CFR 600. IMHO

He's the same mad dog who went after conservative non-profits in the Lois Lerner IRS scandal during the Obama administration who was finally hammered to death by public interest law firms like the ALCJ.

The good news is the House is doing its job. Highly doubtful this would not have happened without the testimonies of the 2 IRS whistleblowers, Devon Archer, and this week’s revelations about the payments.

The bad news is Weiss is the special prosecutor. Lol.

At the end of the day, Biden will not be impeached. That’s fine with me. Impeachments don’t mean much anymore. We have an election coming up soon enough. House just needs to keep the heat on Garland and the DOJ.

Weiss is the prosecutor who crafted Hunter's plea deal.

An election cycle that's tainted with all out election interference.

The Doj has to be moved out of DC and somehow realigned to a neutral arbiter and not under the directive of the executive branch. Maybe a special division of SCOTUS. Don't know what the answer is but there are glaring weaknesses with the system we have now.

I agree but it is what it is. Weiss has destroyed his credibility and the credibility of the DOJ. It’s on the House to keep turning up the heat and on the GOP to win elections next year. Complaining about election interference won’t accomplish that. Fielding strong candidates and getting out the EARLY vote will.

lol more whack off material for the three of you, btw the paper towel is in the third aisle.

On a more reality based point, the trial should be a hoot to watch, and I win no matter which way it goes. If Hunter's convicted great, I'll get to read more posts by you three on how come they didn't get his father. Or if he gets off, more posts by you three on how his father got him off...*chuckles*

Hunter, the gift that keeps on giving!!

Hunter, the gift that keeps on giving!!

It’s more than JUST “whack off material”.

It’s also crocodile tears, lying, and gaslighting.

The RWCJ “members” (not so secretly) are thrilled that the corrupt right-wing prosecutor David Weiss and the corrupt “judge” that nixed the plea deal are keeping “Hunter!!! Hunter!!! Hunter!!!” in the spotlight. It gives them additional opportunities to falsely equate Hunter’s actions with the corrupt orange traitor’s crimes; and to smear President Biden because of his unavoidable relationship with Hunter.

The RWCJ “members” are transparently / pathetically disingenuous in their poutrage and in their attempts to associate Hunter’s actions with President Biden.

👎

👉 RWCJ “members” 🤣

Please explain. What trial are you referring to? Weiss allowed the statute of limitations to expire, tipped off the Biden defense team of planned interviews, denied IRS search warrants, and tried to sneak through a plea deal that would have granted unlimited immunity from future charges. There is no trial coming up.
