Had the Judge not shot the plea deal all to hell Biden would have walked with no strings attached, all the sworn depositions, all the evidence on the laptop would have become just a memory. He violated his oath and now has to perform because he got caught. Perhaps Garland should suffer from the Mitchell effect.

Attorney General Garland skirted this requirement by not appointing Weiss pursuant to the special counsel regulations. This has been the Department’s approach in other special counsel regulations.

Attorney General Barr did something instructively similar when he appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham as Special Counsel to investigate whether anyone violated federal law in connection with the investigations directed at 2016 presidential campaign activities.
