Luk's car maintenance tip: buy a new one if you can afford it.
First, if you have to finance your vehicle then you can't afford it. Full stop.
I think it's pretty clear that you are not going to benefit much from this helpful thread. It doesn't appear you're paying attention at all.

It sounds like you don't comprehend the concept of depreciation. The depreciation that you experienced just by driving that Sorrento off the lot exceeded the cost of replacing the entire engine..
I'm not a big fan of those sort of ads where they talk about how this power-to-be or that "doesn't want you to know"..." but car manufacturers count on consumers believing that cars are disposable items that are not worth renewing.
There was a time when if appearances were important to you as obviously in your case they are you kind of did need to continue to trade in because the tail fins changed or the headlights went from horizontal to vertical or some other obvious marker but at this point I don't know that anybody can really tell the difference between a 2017 and 2019 Sorento. Hell... I can't really tell the difference between that and any number of other manufacturers of similar products.
You are of course free to spend your money in any way that you feel will help you bolster your flagging self-esteem; it just doesn't seem like a lot of bang for the buck to me.
I think we've all got to make choices in our lives that improve our own quality of life and not all of those choices can be driven by environmental concerns but there is a huge impact to the environment in manufacturing and entire vehicle versus refurbishing an existing one. The American consumerist society is pretty irresponsible about those sort of issues while paying lip-service to relatively meaningless problems such as carbon output.
You poor thing. Emphasis on the poor.
You poor thing. Emphasis on the poor.
Small wonder he couldn't afford a date for the entirety of 2018.
Emphasis on small.

Jesus Fuck.
I had to buy a new battery the other day.
Some dumbass was trying to help me. I'm like, dude...it's OK.
Anyway, I gave him the make and model and year...and of course the only correct size was the supreme class. Which costs twice as much. Same CCA.
WTF?
Because the heat here kills batteries pretty much once a year I get the free replacement series for the Honda and the truck. On the Prius, I use the gel battery because the battery is located inside the passenger department and you definitely don't want to be creating hydrogen sulfide gas in your passenger compartment when the battery inevitably fails.
Here it's both. Extreme heat...then brutal cold. Bats don't stand a chance. Many nights I've put the trickle charger on just to keep it warm.
Anywho...I found a bottom shelf one for half the price that fit.
I think I have to replace mine every three years or so. I remember it getting so cold a couple years ago and I didn't have a garage so I had to keep going out and starting my car to make sure it would start. *Add remote starter to list.*
There's no way I'm buying a new car right now either. I just spent the last year slowly replacing everything. It's a Honda. I'd rather knock out some of my student loan debt and wait until I have to replace my car. My vanity isn't tied to my ride.....just my shoes.![]()

I don't really get the mindset of either you or Luke. Women are not commodities to be purchased or bribed. I tried to explain to you how creepy it was going to come across when you wanted to spend a couple of grand to fly some chick to another city get separate hotel rooms for a concert on a second date. There's nothing wrong with spending a couple of dollars on a nice dinner but throwing money at women just comes across as try hard and coercive.Hey there's nothing wrong with the sex worker industry and if you're getting great service and having a good time in that you feel that's money well spent I don't think I would even shame you for that. I rib you from time to time because of your closeted attraction to T-Gurls and you having run out of ones that will "date" you in the greater Houston area.To be fair, I think that that is a much more noble approach then Luk's destructive habit of enabling unfortunate "girlfriend" in her addiction by inviting her over for (as he calls them) "tweak-ends." Hopefully he is having second thoughts about that. You may have noticed that he hasn't mentioned her since she started leaning on him for meth on a day-to-day basis. He wisely realizes that if he is going to indulge without "abusing" it, he needs to alternate those highs with some mellow stoner time.
I have a guy. He does stuff and I hand him a credit card.
Remote start would be nice...
But she's a manual.

Word. Debt-free in cute shoes be hella sexy, ya fill me?
Oh yeah. I forgot those still existed. This is my first automatic. Given that sometimes my top speed on the way home is 30 mph all interstate, I would be miserable driving a manual now.
You live vicariously through me and you know it.
....that's why you resent me so much.![]()

Yep! Setting the climate before getting in is kinda fun.

No. Quit trying to antagonize him. Or at least using me as bait to do it.
