This is not how I had imagined my first post to go.

Perhaps you could gently suggest that either their reality or their fantasy need to come into alignment with Lit’s strongly supported rules…
Realities are often sad and lonely than fantasies and sometime people tend to over compensate to feel belonged.
You tried to help a friend. Any shame is on them, not you.
I was all set to delete my account and go in self exile. Thank you so much for being fun and easygoing bunch.
And it's that fifth truth that provides some of the most interesting drama." -- J. Michael Straczynski
and sometimes people are too dumb for their own good to understand any of it.

Now that the mystery is solved I can go back to be being silent observer. My friend is thinking of coming back sometime in future with new id but that's for her to decide.

It was embarrassing in rather fun way. Thank you all. 🙏

Admittedly I’ve only seen the first and last page, but how was it ‘fun’, given the nature of what your friend posted…? People here have presumably been supportive, maybe, but are you not disturbed by the possibility of your friend coming back?
Am I the only one thinking something doesn’t quite add up here…?

If I was brand new to this village and had no real frame of reference, I think that I wouid be easily confused about what is acceptable and what is not if I hadn’t read the rules. We have all kinds of extreme and unusual behaviours depicted here, so for everybody to suddenly be pausing in the village square to stare would be a tad disconcerting.

The ‘fun’ bit was in the pages you didn’t read, where everyone around relaxed and started cracking jokes.

"In any story there are three things - your story, my story and what actually happened. And it's seldom that two of them agree."

I like both of these, and they remind me of a slightly more complicated version attributed to the guy most known for Babylon 5 but who also had a hand in a lot of other teevee:
"Basically, I have this theory that there are five kinds of truth.
There is the truth you tell to casual strangers and acquaintances.
There is the truth you tell to your general circle of friends and family members.
There is the truth you tell to only one or two people in your entire life.
There is the truth you tell to yourself.
And finally, there is the truth that you do not admit even to yourself.
And it's that fifth truth that provides some of the most interesting drama." -- J. Michael Straczynski

I take this to heart when I write my (lightly regarded) stories. It can also be summarized as "everybody except the narrator lies sometimes."

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Zebra Update.

I'm disappointed to find out that this is a JMS quote rather than being from the show, because I totally read it in G'Kar's voice.

It's likely safe to read anything JMS said in G'Kar's voice, or vice versa. Author avatar and all that.

I think of myself as a big Occam's Razor believer, but what I love about this saying is that . . . sometimes it's zebras. Once I was stopped at a light in my car, saw a flash of movement, thinking it was, weirdly, a horse running in the street, and it turned out to be a zebra. It was being transported somewhere and had escaped from its trailer.
The Zebras are out there, man. And they must be dealt with. Before you know it you're confusing day and night, and that is a good way to get killed in a Zebra migration. You can't trust them.

While not on the subject of zebras who can forget the salutory tale of Man after proving the existence of God?

"Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.”
We needed more Douglas Adams in this conversation.
