I for one think Hanns poses no threat to anyone as a poster except by creating fear in some. Other than his head-fucking being a couple of shades meaner and straight-up, he's basically another Miles, Muff, PC or Lavender to me.

I agree. We have a lot of hateful things done and said around here that have nothing to do with Hanns.

Common sense should tell you not to post your name and area of residence on the net for every Tom, Dick and Harry...or Tracy, Donna and Helen to see. If this is something you need to be told not to do, well, you just don't need to be on the net. If you don't think there are crazy people here or anywhere else you hang out, you are dead wrong. If you think you are safe here, a porn board of all places, thats just sad.

That being said, I'm a big girl. I can take responsibility for my actions. Should I choose to reveal more of myself, I know what the potential consequences can be. I haven't been scared to share. Scared of what? A few lame insults from Hanns? Some digs into my 'moral fiber' by registereds? The unknown creep who sees my pic and sends me creepy pm's? I don't think so, but in the off chance that I got spooked, guess what, my computer has an off button. I can go away never to be seen or heard again. Its that simple.

I don't advocate totally hiding yourself away in fear. Just that you think about who might be looking at what you put up. The odds of you getting physically victimized because of this place is about a bajillion to point zero one. But it does happen and it usually happens to children or to women who frequent porn sites.

I could pretend how smart I was, saying NO, I never clicked.
Truth is I clicked, allthough it never worked for me and gave up trying finally (that's even more scary).

I recently changed my attention for Hanns into ignoring him.

You are absolutely right. Those who are only reading posts, collecting pics and personal infos in order to stalk on purpose are dangerous and you have to be careful to give away your number, address and email addy. They do what they are here for somewhere in the dark shadow. And it's maybe easy or not to sort them out if you're smart enough.
And yes, theres a sign at Lit's entrance telling you not to give away personal infos. Smart or not, it happenes that someone just don't care or feels too safe with a certain person. Ignoring all those warnings. No prob. Blame it on them, call them silly.

But Hanns, as far as I know, proven guilty, is still here.

I'm not arguing that people need to be safe on the net. That is a given. There are all sorts of crazy people in the world, my point is that if you need to be told that there are crazy people in the world, you don't need to be on the net.

And about those lurkers, looking for a victim...has that happened while I've been away? Has that ever happened here? Has someone ever been stalked by some unknown lurker where the life was in jeopardy? Not anywhere on the net, just here? I edited all that stuff about Int out cause I didn't want to shine the spotlight on her. She's probably had enough of this sort of thing. I'd really hate to cause her any more trouble than she's already got. I can't edit you, though!

A lot of this came up when I saw whatt int with through with all the personal information a troll got his grubby hands on. I live right up the road from where John Robinson Jr. is being tried for murder. It's not quite the same--he lured women, didn't stalk them--but the predators will always be there and I don't want anyone here to ever get stalked that badly.

We had a lovely young lady who spent some time with us, she's since moved on, but during her tenure here some sicko started stalking her. Knows her name, where she lives, and where she hangs out online. Even showed up here and posted that she'd died.

Sometimes, I think, we get so comfortable with the good people here that it's easy to forget that the bad ones could be peering in as well.
