A Twisted Plot

Simon press the button for the lobby and allowed the doors to close. He stood still for several seconds and then pulled the stop button. The elevator came to a sudden stop. He looks at Sam, and looks down at the floor."Yeh know what Sam, your a real place of work, you've been here a day and you have him cow eyed, moon struck all at the same time." Simon sayes in a level tone and he pushed in the stop button and the elevator started to drop. He let it go down for 30 seconds then pulled the the stop button again.
"Sam your new to the movie business, I know that, but this is a business, I can't have Matthew taking two bit horror films, rather then big money pictures. Film poeple look at what you just made what did it gross, how many theaters did it run in, things like that." Simon pulled the stop button and the elevator moved downward. He remained silent till they reached the lobby. The doors opened and he followed Sam out. He touches her gentley on the arm and Sam turns.
"Sam I can't say I'm disappionted in you, because I have nothing to judge against, Mary is gone and I can't bring her back, I'm out of time I can not bring anyone new in, but be on notice as of this date at this time,if your open legs cause me to loose a shot for Matthew to hook up with Cindy Graham, I swear to god I'll leave you in a hole, weather in the desert or jungle it matters not to me!"He turn and walks over to the Main desk.

Sam felt her entire body tense as the elevator stopped suddenly, seeing Simon's finger on the button and feeling trembles beginning to take over her.
"Yeh know what Sam, your a real place of work, you've been here a day and you have him cow eyed, moon struck all at the same time."
He released the stop button and they continued downwards. Her heart was thudding ominously in her ears. All Sam wanted to do was get out of the confined space with him. Almost feeling his angry gaze burning into her. Somehow holding back a yelp as the lift screeched to another sudden stop.
"Sam your new to the movie business, I know that, but this is a business, I can't have Matthew taking two bit horror films, rather then big money pictures. Film poeple look at what you just made what did it gross, how many theaters did it run in, things like that."
The elevator began to move once more and Sam felt herself backing away from him as much as she could. Eventually they reached the ground floor and Sam quickly slipped through the doors as soon as they parted. She didn't get far before she felt his hand on her arm, making her turn and face him.
"Sam I can't say I'm disappointed in you, because I have nothing to judge against, Mary is gone and I can't bring her back, I'm out of time I can not bring anyone new in, but be on notice as of this date at this time, if your open legs cause me to loose a shot for Matthew to hook up with Cindy Graham, I swear to god I'll leave you in a hole, weather in the desert or jungle it matters not to me!"
Sam stood, open mouthed and shocked at his unveiled threat. Indignant at being spoken to in such a way. She walked after him quickly, catching his arm and making him face her. Somehow managing not to quake under his vicious gaze.
"Mr Preston, what I do or don't do in my personal life is of no concern to you...I am here to assist Matthew in whatever professional way he requires. The fact that we seem to be developing a..." She faltered, trying to find the right word. "...a friendship, will not affect that, I can assure you I will remain professional when I am engaged by him. You do your job Mr Preston, and I shall do mine...believe me I don't want to get in the way of what you do..." She added with uncharacteristic disgust. She had no doubt that his thoughts revolved around dollars and little more, those kind of people worried and scared her a little.
Turning, she headed to Reception to enquire about Matthew's messages, shaking a little after her 'conversation' with Simon. Praying Matthew would come down soon and no doubt make her feel more secure.

(sorry for the delay...been sick)

Matthew gathered his things and calmed down a bit before heading to the elevator to meet up with Sam and his dreaded manager.

Matthew got to the elevator, took a deep breath, and went downstairs to meet the others.

When Matthew got to the lobby he saw Sam looking as beautiful and irresistable as before standing at the counter talking to the woman working at the desk and his gaze was fixed. He must have had a dumb look on his face because Simon walked up to interrupt him.

Simon spotted Matthew coming out of the elevator. Knowing that stars get bruised egos, he decided to play the understanding manager. Simon walks over to Matthew who is now newly fixated on Sam as she stands at the front desk. "Matthew all I want to do is get past these next few days past all the huppla and glitz and get us back to what you do best....act....this promo tour is a drag, needed I know, but the movie is in the can, we need to move on, I just can not wait for all of this rah rah bullshit to be over, I hope you understand!"

"No no i understand...i want this to be over just as much as you but you have to realize that i care more about making you and me money." Matthew was annoyed by Simon's snotty apology that was obviously insincere but wanted to move on...

"So shall we go?"

Sam came across from the Reception desk, being careful to avoid making eye contact with Simon, smiling brightly instead at Matthew.
"No new messages for you, Matthew..." She explained quickly, turning towards the doors. "The restaurant I have booked our table at is not far so we can either walk or take your car...it's up to you..." She finished, pushing some strands of hair behind her ear as they walked towards the outside.

"I would love walk, that sounds lovely. That is if Simon is okay with it" Matthew looked back smiling at Simon trying to smooth things over a bit.

"I mean it will save some money...." He laughed as he turned back around to walk next to same and caught her eyes with his own. All of the feelings rushed back and all he wanted to do was quit work, push simon away and escape to some deserted place with Sam

"I would love walk, that sounds lovely. That is if Simon is okay with it...I mean it will save some money...."
Sam felt herself blushing as Matthew moved to walk alongside her. Simon wandering behind, the sound of his phone ringing cutting through the air before he answered the call, speaking quietly.
"I...I just wanted to say again that I'm sorry if I've caused you trouble..." She said softly, certain Simon was involved in his phonecall and not listening but she didn't want to give him any ammunition for another attack like the one in the elevator. She decided against mentioning the incident to Matthew, she didn't want to ruin the peaceful, almost romantic, mood as they walked towards the restaurant.

"No you won't get me in trouble...remember that i pay him to be like that and if he gets too bad then i just ask him to not come back the next day...but he is good and has done a lot for me so i put up with more than i should"

He looked down towards her and smiled...

"lets not let our chaperone ruin our evening." he laughed and looked back at simon on the phone then back at Sam.

Walk to the restaurant, how quaint. And to save on car fare.I'm going to be sick. And then the phone rang. Simon took the call. As he walked behind the two lovebirds and he listened to Max Tanglewood of Tanglewood Pictures, he is making Desert Hawks and wants to do a meet and greet with the staff and talk numbers. Sure we can do that!"Matthew, Max wants a meeting with us, when are you free?"

"you'll have to ask sam, she stole all of my bar naps. the big jerk" matthew shot a smile at sam and laughed

"you'll have to ask sam, she stole all of my bar naps. the big jerk"
Sam blushed, fishing in her bag and pulling out the diary she had only just filled with all of Matthew's information from the back of receipts and napkins.
"Well, he's free first thing tomorrow morning, then he has a photo shoot for a teen-magazine to promote the movie...or Friday evening...he's got a chat show appearance late that afternoon but that should be over by 5...?" Sam felt slightly relieved having something 'job-related' to do. A chance to prove to Simon that she could do the job, even if he didn't think so.

"Max we can do a breakfast meet tomarrow!"Simon listened to the phone. "Sandlewood at 9, sounds great, that sounds great, yes, ahh, make that 3 yeah, he has a new PA, yeah, ok sounds good, at 9 then in the morning, oh yeah bring them sure the more the better, good, alright in the morning, see you then, bye!"
"OK we got a meet and greet with the director and three producers of Desert Hawks at 9 in the morning at the Saddlewood restaurant, not bad!" Simon put away his phone and hurried to catch up.
"Matthew I think it would be very advantagous to us if Sam here were to work with the producers while we work on the director, you ok with that?"

"Sure Simon whatever you think. Do i know these guys or are they new around town? I don't want to sic Sam on them if they don't know whats coming." Matthew smiled back at Sam. "Better yet Sam, do you know what you will be doing with them?"

As Simon walked he thought through Matthew's question. "Well you should of heard of Mad Max of Tanglewood Studios, he made Boy Scouts Up, that comedy with Jimmy Wilson, where a troup of boy scout is ordered to rescue a princess by the Pentagon, thinking they were special forces group." Simon looked and saw they had arrived at the restaurant. "Did well at the box office, critics hated it, called it mindless". He turned to enter.

Matthew stared at Sam oblivious to whatever Simon was chattering on about. Hearing a name Matthew looked back, "Mad Max huh?" As Simon finished talking Matthew snapped out of his trance and looked back again. "Didn't he make that rediculous Boy Scout movie?"
Turning back he saw the resturant. "We're here," he smiled at Sam and pulled the door open for her letting her go in first.
