A really technical computer question (I think)

Okay I know a bit about computers, but not a WHOLE lot. I have heard that DirectX has issues with certain makes of video cards. I have a RAGE 128 AR VGP graphics card, and someone told me it has issues with certain versions of DirectX. I think they told me version 7.0 or higher, but I won't swear to it.

I have a game I want to install that requires DirectX version 8.0. If I install it am I going to run into problems?

Perhaps someone knows of a website that deals with these issues?

The manufacturer of your Video Card should know of any difficulties with DirectX and have something about it on their website. http://www.atitech.com/

Failing that, Google should turn up something about any known or alleged problems with your video card and DirectX 8.0.
