Nationalism has killed more people than any other ism, including religion - including racism, nationalism's close cousin. It's not just the unfairness of Bush's proposed war on Iraq that's galling, it's the hypocrisy, the lying, and the propaganda that accompanies it.

Remember when "we" were going to wage war on Iraq because of it's association with 9/11? Remember when it was terrorism that justified going to "war?" I'm using quotes here because we all know that it's not going to be a war - that's why there's so little opposition. If America attacks, it'll be a slaughter. If there was a genuine threat to America, it wouldn't be such a groundswell of support - as long as it's only Iraqi children who'll die in "accidents" - it's all ok.

Right?

After all, they're not Americans. So they don't count.

SO??

But Sandia . . . America is ALWAYS right . . . ask the Americans . . . :)

Fuckin' Aye!

Better them than us, they drew first blood, let 'em drown in theirs. :D

Sandia

You would be happier if the ratio of dead were even? I wouldnt!

If any so called "innocents" in Iraq were killed, it is Husseins fault! He could LEAVE the country......or he could disarm.

BTW.....Its either KILL or be KILLED.....

As Just Cause has so wonderfully stated......BETTER THEM THEN US!

As Don Duck has stated.....WE AMERICANS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT!

As far as BUSYBODY is concerned!

If you FUCK with AMERICA in any way shape or form.....WE ARE GONNA ANIHILATE YOU......Your choice....leave us the FUCK alone.....OR BE PRERARED TO DIE! YOUR CHOICE!

Hey Sandia;

Gee, it sure is good to see you; I've been wondering where you were.

I have here beside the computer a newspaper story I clipped yesterday containing quotes by 2000 candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize and former UN Asst Secretary General Denis Halliday.

The title of the piece is "Iraqi threat a fiction of Washington propaganda, former UN official says." and is basically another credible world figure pointing out that:

1. Iraq poses no credible threat to the USA, and
2. The Bush administration simply intends to remap the Middle East to secure oil reserves for the USA.

I didn't start the thread because....well, I don't think there are many new points to be raised in this matter and most American posters here are bloodthirsty it seems, actually looking forward to more laser-bomb killing sprees on tv..

Talking about nationalism as a destructive force in the USA and to perhaps remind Americans of the hundreds of thousands of women and children they cheer about their government killing with military and economic wars....probably will only get you a lot of hate posts.

Anyway, I share your views, so good luck with this... and it's just good to see you anyway.

Cheers

Lance

Nobel Peace Prize candidate?

Well, that sure sez he knows shit!

The more DEAD of the BAD GUYS/GALS the Better.....

Better THEM then US!

There are to many of em, anyway!

I wouldn't be surprized if Saddam just disappears in a pre-ordained poof of assylum. Bush will be the hero of peace and Iraq's weapons program will be ours to improve. Perhaps even the economy will improve as oil prices go down. Who cares what Venezuela's doing anyway.

Pardon my simple rambling.

There is NOTHING wrong with the economy now.....and it is getting better as we speak.

The high tech companies have already reported better revenues ahead and most pre announced earnings are on the up side!

I've seen optimistic predictions that put us ahead of the rest of the trading world but caution is also in the wind.

Improvement since November does not yet make a full recovery.

I guess there's some things about the rate of employment and consumer confidence that have yet to pan out also.

I do wonder how the cost of our military spending is going to factor into things, too.

Good thoughts, but.

One has to look at facts.

There has been only one down quarter, thus by classical definitions of recession, there was none.

GNP has grown thruout this slowdown, so thats what it is, a slowdown.

Unemployement at 6% is historically low. In fact in the late 90's when it hit 6%, the FED raised rates because they said that it was inflationary. They were wrong!

Military spending usually is good for the economy. of course if we get bogged down in Iraq.....or another bad terrorist strike hits.....all bets are off.

That the economy is undergoing change and a restructuring is a fact of life, but the economy as a whole,is better than any in the industrialized world.

We are STILL the engine of world growth. And as usual, the best looking or smartest, or wealthiest guy/gal in school earns the jelousy of the entire school......The US earns the same.....

I've wondered about the whole defense spending as good for the economy thing. I get that if the government spends a bunch of bucks on all that steel and technology the military uses that the money going to those corporate contracts will filter into the economy. Though I wonder about how fine that filter is. Thus war is good for the economy. Historically, anyway.

But now the talk is of how bad a war in Iraq will be for the economy. Which really makes more sense to me anyway. Spending on a non-profitable venture. In money terms anyway.

In '91, the stock market went up, the day the war started and kept going......

The oil market(prices)went down and continued down when the war started......

Both a plus......

Of course the war lasted 100 hrs.....

will there be a war now? the uncertaintity is worse then war itself.....it serves tp paralyze.

I'm beginning to doubt the inevitably of war more and more.

And I certainly do not want one.

So that leaves us with all the additional spending we've done to date on the whole Iraq issue. How will that affect the economy. Doesn't national debt have an effect?

You mean the Iraqis? In case you haven't noticed, they haven't done anything since we obliterated them (and bombed on a regular basis since) twelve years ago. Mr. Bush tried to link Iraq to 9-11, but gave up on that ridiculous notion soon after.

Who are the "thems" and "theys" you speak of, Commando? :D

They, IRAQ, have NOT lived up to their armistace agreement of '91!

They are any enemy of the US....US!

THEY are bad and should be NUKED!

WE are angels and beloved! :D

busybody has now been successfully added to your ignore list, because he's a fucking retard.

busybody,

Do you ever read your own posts and see just how badly you fare for your cause?

Every once in a while I think you're going to have real discussion and then....ah, whatever.

To each their own.

See ya at the voting booth.:D

Sandia! I was just wondering where you'd gone off to a day or so ago. Welcome back.

What comment(s) of mine did you have a problem with?

America needs to be at war or be mad at some one or some thing at all times. The rag heads are just the last in a series of people we have to take care of. Myself I really do not care what happens to them they started the war on us... they are Terrorists so we are going to give them a little terror for a while. They got the first strike now it is our turn...if they hit back we hit back even harder! Besides I think it would be kinda cool to turn one of those countries covered in sand into a country covered with glass...get that picture in your brain whooo haaaa
