Anyway, I was making a Honey Roast Ham sandwich and I didn't have any English mustard, so I used Marmite instead. It's fucking delicious.:D

I've not tried that, but I do love Marmite and mature cheddar cheese. :D

Cheese and marmalade's good. Nice mature cheddar and a tangy marmalade, preferably one of the chunky ones.

I know the Aussies have a similar thing called Vegemite, don't know if you have that in the US?

Marmite is a yeasty spread. Dark in colour and tangy in taste. Very nice!

Gee, really don't know what you're talking about. Don't think I want to, though. Thanks, anyway. P.

p.s. marmite seems like something to dull the libido.

Sounds yummy:rolleyes:

Marmite is one of those products you either love or hate, it has no middle ground. Try as I might, I can't think of a good analogy for that one. lol

Try this for a sandwich:

Buttered bread, (obviously), then on one slice put some Ham, any type, although the tastier , the better.

On the other slice, spread some cream cheese. In UK Dairy-lea is best, I think, but Philadelphia is good too.

On the Philly slice spread some coleslaw, then top with ground pepper from a mill.

Put them together and hey presto, a flavour delight.

Wonderful. I have it for my lunch at work almost every day!!!

Yep, my kind of sarnie!

I've actually had this one, and yes I agree it is a nice combo. Any others?

Yep, roast spuds, roasted in marmite.

I can't remember the posh name for them!

Oh, and cheese & Jam (Jelly for you yankee heathens!!:D ) was a delicacy to die for when I was a kid.

I won't tell you how long ago that was!!!

Eeeeeeeeew!

I sometimes do parsnips roasted in honey. They are VERY nice!

Chopped hard-boiled egg, grated cheese, chopped onion, in roughly equal measure, bound with mayonnaise or salad cream to taste. Salt and pepper to taste.

Make the sandwiches with granary loaf.

Exquisite!

LOL that's hilarious, P. I could only imagine that it was something like blood pudding

MARMITE FAQs from some website, with Charley variations:

Marmite is dark brown-colored gooey spread made from the yeast that is a by-product of the brewing industry. Hard to get in North America, but common in Britain.

Children in Britain are generally fed it from the time they are born. Mothers put it on their nipples, and bald men put it on their head to induce hair growth.

Apparently it lasts years, perhaps even milleniums. Similar in this respect to say, spam.

It has drug-like qualities.

The more you put on your crumpets, the more likely it will have a mouth-burning effect.

So, there you have the FAQ. :D
