Angie, your ghazal is so fun and cute. I looked up the form, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the rules, though they're starting to make some sense. I might have to try that sometime... probably not soon.![]()

Thanks Calli.
It was pouring here when I wrote it--I had no idea what to write about and then I thought "well it's raining." Any port in a storm, so to speak!
I used this site, which Annie discovered a few years ago, to follow the model for a ghazal. For me isn't a hard form as long as I choose a word that is relatively easy to rhyme five or more times and a repeating word or phrase that works in a bunch of contexts. And then you just make sure that each two line set is on topic (or er fooking theme), but can stand on its own. This last bit, to me, is the key to making a ghazal work well. Every two lines is about the same topic but doesn't really need any of the other sets to work. If you want to play with the form and ever want feedback, let me know oh my sister in 30/30 pain.![]()

Indeed. I just read it now and it's honest and intimate, relatively few words that tell a whole story.
Thank you both for your comments. I think that may be the first time I just opened a "post reply" window and started writing.

Angeline, Crows and Small Blessings, is beautiful. It touched me deeply; my screen is blurry.

Yes, indeed. The language of how the words work together is superb.

Loved the Donald double dactyl.
That's what we need in October: a nonsensical double dactyl challenge until election day. I'm already working on "Billary Hillary."
Our Lit friends across the pond can do something with "Brexit." It'll be still fresh in our minds.
Remec's poem 10 - 18 Curry Coq au Vin made me hungry, and now I'll be making chicken curry.![]()

..I'm afraid it was much less interesting - chicken sauteed in olive oil, with garlic, paprika, and some Moroccan herbs. And I forgot to add the curry, so I have my second chance today.
