30 in 30 Companion Thread

Angie, your ghazal is so fun and cute. I looked up the form, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the rules, though they're starting to make some sense. I might have to try that sometime... probably not soon. :)

Thanks Calli. :)

It was pouring here when I wrote it--I had no idea what to write about and then I thought "well it's raining." Any port in a storm, so to speak!

I used this site, which Annie discovered a few years ago, to follow the model for a ghazal. For me isn't a hard form as long as I choose a word that is relatively easy to rhyme five or more times and a repeating word or phrase that works in a bunch of contexts. And then you just make sure that each two line set is on topic (or er fooking theme), but can stand on its own. This last bit, to me, is the key to making a ghazal work well. Every two lines is about the same topic but doesn't really need any of the other sets to work. If you want to play with the form and ever want feedback, let me know oh my sister in 30/30 pain. :D :rose:

I had a PoBo Master Class on the Ghazal. Here. Ghazal Thread

Thank you both. :)

There are a lot of days looming ahead, and I'm pretty sure I'll be looking for things to experiment and play with to fill them.

That site was a big help the last couple of times I did this. So many forms to nudge me into getting something on the page!

Alright, I have to admit it...was going to do a blitz after being inspired, but had a phone call midway through and loss my momentum..thus hit up a different style from the Shadow Poetry site...will work a blitz in sometime during this run, I think, though.

Those blitzes are long buggers! Fatigue hit me at about line 24 when I wasn't even halfway there lol.

I saw that show (Andrew Zimmern?) about the rotting shark(?) meat. Gross!

Remec I really like today's offering and I don't think I'm being biased lol. Great short narrative--felt like the East Coast shore to me.

(God bless the 5 Senses Challenge. Tzara's poem was like being thrown a rope to get out of the "no ideas" hole I was in!)

Angeline, Crows and Small Blessings, is beautiful. It touched me deeply; my screen is blurry.

Loved the Donald double dactyl.

That's what we need in October: a nonsensical double dactyl challenge until election day. I'm already working on "Billary Hillary."

Our Lit friends across the pond can do something with "Brexit." It'll be still fresh in our minds.

I was thinking of doing one about Christie soon. Maybe. I shall anticipate "Billary/Hillary" with bated breath. There's so much material with these people lol.

My favorite Donald insult so far is "tiny-fingered, cheetoh-faced, ferret-wearing shitgibbon." I read it a week ago and it's still making me giggle.

Remec's poem 10 - 18 Curry Coq au Vin made me hungry, and now I'll be making chicken curry. :)

Glad to be of service...:) Be sure to share your recipe with us. :D

I'm afraid it was much less interesting - chicken sauteed in olive oil, with garlic, paprika, and some Moroccan herbs. And I forgot to add the curry, so I have my second chance today.

Looks like the Coq went thirsty too :D
