30 in 30 Companion Thread

It's hard for me to resist writing with a group: even when it's the dreaded 30/30 lol. You never know what kind of synergy will come from it. :)

I've enjoyed the synergy. Some days, I've gotten quite a kick out of some synergistic poems. :)

When I first started this, I honestly don't think I'd written thirty poems in total. I still need to count them, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't thirty. I'm not sure how much poetry was in some of the pieces I posted, but it was good for me to have to write something every day.

At the beginning, I expected to have a big sigh of relief when I posted the last piece, but I realized sometime last week that I probably wouldn't feel that kind of relief at all. I had more fun than I thought I would, and it was less of a chore than I imagined it might be at this point.

I'll probably do it again. Maybe not in the next few weeks, but we'll see what happens after that. And, in the process, I came up with an idea for a new challenge thread. :D

Congrats Calli and Trix! Calli I love that you explored so many forms (and got some great stuff from it), and Trix, I may try your bookends idea for a future 30/30. It certainly worked well for you and I am now sold on the 30/30 theme thingy.

:rose:'s

Congrats calli and Trix. :)

Yes, indeed, good job, ladies. Perhaps next time I will manage to avoid sleepiness and/or having to take meds for colds and sinuses and stick with you all the way through. ^5 to you both! :D:kiss::rose:

Thank you. Playing with the forms made it more of an exercise some days, so it helped me get something out without worrying too much if it was good enough. And, I discovered that counting syllables can engage me when I'm feeling a bit empty.

Congrats calli and Trix. :)

Thank you. :)

If you were a bit closer to the end, I might've been tempted to continue and do x poems in x days, just to see which forms catch your eye. ;) Thanks for starting with us. I'm glad you've got good company for the rest of your run.

2/26 poems

Tess your tritina is graceful and evocative. And Remec your poem is evocative and kinda lonely. Drinks all around!

Well, your George Harrison acrostic, sweet and funny, plus the senryu, beautifully sad, are all keepers.

I have a suspicion I'm writing mainly rubbish - scraping the bottom of my poetic barrel where as you two - Trix and Callie too - all seem to produce sterling stuff.

I think we all feel that way. I am knocked out by so much of what you've produced in this round, whereas I feel I really got it right with three or so poems and the rest are meh. Perspective. :D

What Angeline said. :) Sterling? I know I wrote at least two throwaway pieces just complaining about insomnia. Then there were at least a few which I mostly just beat into submission to make them fit a form I decided to monkey around with... usually while looking at the clock and fretting about the deadline I'd set for myself. From my vantage point, you're doing far, far better writing than I did during my run.

Now, about the actual poems:

GP, I really liked Tritina for a Lost Love, It reminded me of someone I used to know.

Angeline, 3 Senryu was lovely and touching, and I really felt those. :rose:

Also, I feel completely silly for not noticing that I Like You Too Much was an Acrostic.

I do believe that the trick with the 30/30 thread is to keep one's expectations low. That sounds awful lol, but nobody can produce great writing every single day. To me it's first draft writing, even if I polish it up before I post it. I will come back a month or two later to see what I can scavenge, usually for further tinkering.

Hey it was his birthday... As a Beatlemaniac I have an obligation to to something Beatlish on their birthdays!

Thanks Calli. :rose:

Once again remec and Ange come up with some good stuff, rem is tender and sweet, Ange's clever and funny.

Catching up on the last couple of days.

GP, I really liked On the News. My father is a butterfly enthusiast, so he, of course, grows milkweed and other things to keep the butterflies happy. Every year, I hear about which ones have come to visit and how many monarchs he's seen. I may be planting some milkweed myself this year. :)

Remec, Mini-me was sweet and touching.

Angeline, Tetracty(saurus) was cute and made me giggle. Also, I haven't heard that song in ages. :)

Chomp!

Thanks calli, I miss them, they don't come to our west coast but I used to really love them when we lived in Ontario.

Tess, your 29. :D

I once had a school roommate (mercifully for a short time) who like me, is Jewish. She often quoted me the list of acceptable Jewish husbands, in order: doctor, lawyer, dentist, accountant.

She could tell I was a real slacker!

PoeTess, you made it! Here's to the keepers and to tenacity.

Drinks on the house. Harry's buyin. :D

I'll be back later for my poem. I have no idea...
