2025 Virtual Literotica Convention Story Idea

👍🏻🐊 but you stole Freya👩🏻‍🦰's thunder⚡
I have no thunder. I'll make up an official thread in a couple of days. Right now, I'm just catching up on some work and taking care of some "Pre-Christmas" stuff. But I'm so happy that the idea is now an official thing!!!!

I did steal your thunder though - sorry! Congrats on getting this up as an official challenge! The announcement pointed to this thread as theh official thread, so maybe you could use it just with some tidying up?

To me it sounds like the fun is in taking the chacters from stories we have read and put them in a plot of our own.
@FreyaGersemi has made it clear, that authors are not required to follow up on the stage that has been set up. But having a proper structure might help to create a consistent tapestry of stories. So it might make sense to provide a "delault setting". Some might be happy to use it, others might just move the action into an area, that is heir own to define.
So I propose to define more details; weather, food being served, the agenda of the conference etc.

As with oneagainst, I commend your voluenteering, but check back on the thread as I recall (possibly mistakenly) Freya having set up some basics, but also others had pitched ideas. Some research may reduce your workload and you should run it past Freya (possibly in a DM) before nailing your colours to the mast!

I'm not sure this statement was one of volunteerism, but you guys may have just forced his hand into volunteering! Either way, I'm fine with whatever. I can add things to the original post. The way that I write is very character-driven, so the specifics outside of that are less important to me, but if someone wants to come up with specifics, go for it!

Ok, @FreyaGersemi You asked for it, here you have it. Please feel free to modify it as needed, so it is aligned with your vision.

This is a suggested detailed agenda for the convention for your use if you wish.
Of course, this is just a suggestion, no one has to follow it or even agree with it.
It follows the idea that this convention is populated by story characters and not by authors.
Therefore it is more on general sexuality than on erotic literature.
It is just there that stories using it have a little less explanation to do.

Well done, but I am not sure where where Bella's talk on the "The Reality and Myths of Tantric Sex and Repeaters", would be in the programme? It would be a discussion followed by a practical demonstration involving Alex Hughes, otherwise known as Mr Fourways.

As much as I love the idea just as much I struggle to come up with a good story idea for it. As we are on literotica, I would want the characters I write about to have sex.

But because the event is short it must be casual. So my vision of this convention somehow gravitates towards it being a kind of a 3 day swinger club.

Like 2 characters meet at the opening reception, like each other, and spend the night together. In such a situation I find it hard to create depth beyond a stroke story.

How do you (other authors) approach the story building?

Perhaps they met on one of the discussion forums, maybe Role Playing. Through numerous posts and private messages, maybe even a few pictures, they have established awareness and tension, but don't want to reveal their true home locations just quite yet.

The convention gives them the opportunity to play and decide where to take it from there.

I take it that in this fantasy reality, the characters are real and are both aware that their lives are being 'reported' on the site and also have read about others on there. So characters A (or A&B) and Z (or Y&Z) might well know something about each other and have if not mutual, then from one side, a desire to explore common interests. That is the line I am taking.

In such a situation I find it hard to create depth beyond a stroke story.
As @Five_Inch_Heels and @AlexFourways have mentioned, they could have had contact and awareness prior.

Also, people could meet and have a backstory that pushes them towards a sexy situation. Maybe a couple that always wanted to try bondage, but were unsure where to begin? Maybe a character that has just been dumped and looking for revenge sex? Maybe just a slut character? A tease? Maybe a character can volunteer for a demonstration and the "clinical" demonstration becomes something more? The story doesn't have to start and end at the convention. Heck, two characters could meet at the convention, there's a spark, they have a long distance relationship (and all of the struggles that go with that), and 80K words later, they live happily every after.

And by the way, what's so wrong about a stroke story?

Since I’ve been taking swing dance lessons recently I’m going to be offering a clothing-optional dance lesson from 5:30-6:30. It doesn’t matter if you have a partner, I’ll be asking everyone to trade partners during class. It is also ok to not trade partners, but if you make that choice please be certain to point the people who are trading to go around you.
See you on the dance floor!
(There probably won’t be any sex in my story since I’ll be writing for the How-to category, but your stories might want to mention it happening in the background.)

Just coming back to this post - at the moment, my story is trying to centre on 'casual but meaningful' - new, life-changing insights for one character, and some good sex to go with them. However I do want to highlight the obvious alternative. Like many others, I've been seeing the same people at conferences / meetings for years. In some cases, I know initimate details of their lives, even if I've never been to their country or had sex with them. Sometimes people open up a lot more in those circumstances than you might think. Even if I haven't met them physically before, I might have had hours and hours arguing with them. So, even on a professional basiis, there's more than enough scope for non-casual, repeated sex within the context of a long-relationship between people who rarely see each other in person.

This specific situation is a major plot point in one season of For All Mankind, where an American scientist and a Soviet scientist conduct a frustratingly slow courtship via fleeting moments at yearly international conferences over the course of several years

Just for a minute I was trying to find the story here and bookmark it before rereading your post - it's a TV series! :)

Clarifying Question:
When titling our story, do we need to add in [Lit Con 2025] as part of the title? ie. STORY TITLE [Lit Con 2025]
or
Do we just need to put it in the tags / notes to admin?

And if we are collaborating and using another author's name/character we just need to add their page link into the story? Like at the beginning as a note or something?

Just tags and admin note! Some people do put event names in their story titles, but it's not necessary.
And if we are collaborating and using another author's name/character we just need to add their page link into the story? Like at the beginning as a note or something
I don't think it's a rule, but I do think it's good manners! Part of the fun of these crossover events is to send some of your readers/followers over to other authors that you like!

And if we are collaborating and using another author's name/character we just need to add their page link into the story?
After reading the stories of the challenge, I strongly recommend to have a section at the beginning or end about the characters. This way one can look at the backstory of a character, which makes the reading experience a lot more fun.
You might even invest a short paragraph about the character and why you used it.

If this is missing, then the used characters appear fairly random and without any personal traits.

I see this challenge as an opportunity to benefit from the character development the lending author has already done and as an opportunity to recommend a character/author.

I know the specifics of embedding links has been covered here before, but is it possible to put links in my profile? I’d like to link to the stories using my characters.

In real life, the conference organising committee would review all good suggestions like this and use them towards next year’s conference. The same could happen here if our fearless leader is up for it. Theme, location, invited speakers, program, call for abstracts/talks, pre-conference field trips… there’s a lot that could be done!
