I've been watching the show and you have to respect that family, they have faith in God, morals the kids follow and each and every child has respect for the parents.

The family is a fine example of how others should be raising children.

So, every family should have a TV show pay for their lifestyle?

There's something painfully ironic going on here...

Others should raise their kids in a cult like setting? Force them into religion and control everything about their lives? Really?

I guess you're mistaken, the father was a millionaire investor before the show started. He's a man that takes care of his family.

Nothing about the show is cult like at all, I take it you have no morals or belief in God with a comment like that.

Everyone should have so many children that they force the older ones to raise the younger ones?

If it is on TV, it must be true.

I have plenty of morals, and no I do not believe in God. I do think that everyone needs to have faith in something, though. Faith translates to hope and without hope we have nothing. I don't condemn them or anyone else for having beliefs. Belief in God is not the problem, the problem is taking it to such extremes. The girls aren't allowed to wear pants. Explain to me how that is normal? I can understand not wanting your young daughters to wear skimpy clothing, but no pants? That is extreme.

On the whole, they appear to be a happy family, but I have to wonder if they had ever known anything else, or were ever allowed to deviate from their parents religious ideals, would they be better for it?

The way they are raised is not normal in my books, but the flip side is that they are kids who have respect for their elders, who work hard, and have good morals. That much I can respect when you match them up with some of the obnoxious, mouthy punks we have running around these days. Those kids behave better than a lot of the adults on this board. Doesn't change the fact they were in fact raised and continue to be raised in a cult like setting, and I am not on board with that. I very much encourage individuality.

yes, and the key word there is "raise" it isn't babysitting or spend time taking care of... its right out raising the younger ones because there is no way 2 parents can ever handle proper care, physically and mentally of 19 kids.

I wonder if the older ones feel a parental connection with the babies they raised since birth?

They are a happy functioning family so I guess it works for them. Just because you have no belief in God does not make them a "cult".
Since you do not believe in God then you will never understand the belief they live by. As parents it's our job to mold children to be good people and respect others.
If you watched the show you would notice they also teach individuality with each child, it seems to be working well for them.

They love and support each other that's what life is about in a family.

Why the fuck in this day and age of overpopulation, scarce resources, etc would you have 19 kids? That's strait up re-fucking-diculous. And if you did, why would you put it on TV?

*Remembers that reality shows like '16 & Pregnant Exist'.*

I'm just gonna withdraw from this board. It's just to depressing for my fragile emotional state.

Don't forget the part where mom was a drugged out hippie party girl and he showed her the error of her ways

I can't imagine a more horrible existence. When do the Peeps have time to surf porn?

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children, she didn't know what to do.
She gave them some broth without any bread;
And whipped them all soundly and put them to bed.

You may want to turn off the TV. Just sayin'

19 kids here in Oz, would give the parents about $4000/week from the government for 33 1/2 years.
Tax free.

They don't ask for anything from anyone and the family seems adjusted enough. I see no need to judge them.

I'm sorry to hear of your illness, and I hope you feel better soon.

Oh, I could judge them on things but not on having all the kids they want. As long as they don't ask for support and there is no neglect or abuse then it's their own business. People hate on them over it and it's stupid and hypocritical to do so.

Now if you want to discuss their views on religion, dating, etc then I got plenty of judging to do.
