Yeah, he has some pain meds, but we are trying to only use those for pain (and it's not pain keeping him up...it's being uncomfortable) because in my job I see so much about people who are now doing heroin because they jacked up their knee and relied on the pain meds...I have a very addictive personality and I suspect that the boy takes after me in that regard. And yes, he's in PT and said that his hand feels good...he just can't get comfortable at night. (Hoping for an idea from his therapist today)

I think you’re right to be diligent. As an RN and a daughter of someone who got addicted to prescribed opiates, it is a horrible problem.

What if you gave him half a dose at night. Kept the pills. And when he’s more comfortable, dispose of them.
Best bet is talk to your doctor or therapist like you said, not a nurse on a porn site.
I hope he feels better. I’m sorry you’re upset.

I think we are going to give some Tylenol PM or Benadryl tonight to see if that helps for a while.
