🎵 Monthly Song Challenge 🎵

My own next runner up is Seals and Crofts. Although they were both born in Texas, they made Granada Hills CA (only separated from San Fernando by the tiny community of Mission Hills) their home when they were breaking through with their hits.

I once met Dash Crofts at my corner market when I was a teenager. I had left the store and watched a woman back into his Mercedes as she was leaving - and she just drove away. I got her license plate and went back into the store, asking who owned a Mercedes. It was Dash Crofts, and I gave him my information. I don't know what happened later, but Dash did call my house asking for me, but I wasn't home.

Day 12: A song that makes you think of a specific movie/scene

Love this song, 'We'll Meet Again' by the great Vera Lynn. It was originally directed towards the Allied troops fighting in WWII, but it is forever melded with the ending of Dr. Strangelove (etc.).

Day 13: A song by an artist local to where you grew up

Rosanna - Toto

David Paich, Steve Lukather, and brothers Jeff and Steve Porcaro, who formed Toto, met at Grant High School in Van Nuys CA.

This hit was written by David Paich about his high school girlfriend, whose name was also Rosanna. He used the name "Rosanna" for the song because it fit the melody and rhythm, and also because of actress Rosanna Arquette, who happened to be dating Toto keyboardist Steve Porcaro at the time - but the song is not, as legend has it, about her.
