Alright we have to do it!

Do you have any New Year's resolutions? Is there something you want to make happen this year? Something you want to stop doing or change? Any special projects for personal growth this year?

Or do you think resolutions are dumb?

I have no issue with resolutions. I don’t think that they just have to be made on the first of the year either.

My plan for this year is to get more involved with local groups that take care of the environment. There is a watershed cleanup in April that I signed up for, for starters.

Other than that, my big hurdle is figuring out my whole job situation. We will see how far I get with that.

Wishing you all a very happy new year.

I'm not a fan of NY resolutions, for myself. I don't keep them and know it, so I know better.

In general, though, if you decide it's a time for a reset or a significant change, I don't care what the calendar says...go for it if you are that committed. The best changes I've ever made *could* have been resolutions if I had just picked January 1st.

So whatever works for y'all. :)

I think resolutions are dumb. However, Jan 1 is as good a day as any to wipe the slate clean.

I have goals and hopes but not resolutions.
- spend less money. I’ve already started brewing my own coffee (which is a big deal) and cleaning out the pantry/freezer for meals
- to that, less food waste. We are a small family so it’s very difficult to shop for us without waste. When things are on the edge of bad, I’ll post on a local buy nothing page.
- plant more of our own vegetables. We do peppers and tomatoes but I want to add to that.
- TRY to be less negative about myself. Two of the most important people in my daily life regularly say that but it’s difficult. I don’t believe words manifest themselves into reality but I know my kid can hear me. It’s not just saying it, but trying to believe it. Which is even harder because I see a lot of that as arrogance. Self aggrandizement is one if my pet peeves but maybe there’s a line there I can balance.
- I’ll never be a trusting person. I’ll always have thick, juicy walls. But I am TRYING to be more open when asked things about myself.
- hopefully, I’ll get pregnant this year. Lots of time and money invested. And emotions about what could be - names, cute clothes. A second chance to deal with PPD/PPA instead of keep it all in.

So that’s about it.
And I’m NOT looking forward to the gym resolution people. Fuck the first three crowded weeks of January.

Yay on doing your own coffee and paying attention on food.

Some things that helped me on weight loss. More fruits and vegetables. I do that and it crowds out the bad stuff. Much easier than giving stuff up.

Once dinner is done I’m done until the next day.

This may not work with your schedule but my spouse and I go for an hour walk after dinner. We delude our selves that it tell the body to burn the fuel instead of storing it. It’s super exercise and you learn so much about your town.

Weigh yourself each day. Not for the number that day but to spot trends.

Take what you find useful, ignore the rest. It’s a different road for each of us.

I think the idea of changing your life in a year is a little silly. But I agree, it's a good time to think about things and a natural starting place.

I have the normal boring resolutions - to be better with money, to be healthier. But this year I'm adding being more conscious of the waste I create - buying things with minimal packaging, recycling, consuming less in general.

This year is going to be full of huge changes for me anyway so I'm trying to be really flexible and roll with the changes as they come. I think I'm also looking to be more self reliant.

My main fun thing I'm doing this year is to read more historical biographies. Last year I made an effort to explore more of the town I live in and I really enjoyed that and got to see some cool stuff along the way.

Overall 2020 is full of possibilities and hope.

You’re not the first person I suggested this to: Team of Rivals. It’s about Lincoln but it’s so much more. It’s outstanding.

Thanks. I’m not trying to lose weight. Good luck though :)

What genre of Lit story is under serviced? Is there something you wish more people wrote about? Or something you wish less people wrote about?

I would like more text with audio, that would be a lot of fun.

Less - If something isn't my thing I'm happy to just not read it. Just because I'm not interested doesn't mean others might be.

Agreed.
If you like audio stories, try GWA on Reddit.

Before we look forward, let's look back.

What's been the most significant thing that happened in 2019 for you? What about your country?

Learning someone I love/d* had in truth, so little respect for me...and for herself. It was shattering and enlightening, because it put three years of marriage into focus.

I don't think All resolutions are dumb, since I have met people who made a resolution, and then stuck to it from there on out.

I didn't make any new ones this year, I am still working on the one from last year, "Just Keep Swimming"...

A personal goal however, that was not a resolution was to put the past behind me, stop being the victim, and build myself back into the Man I was. Not the Alcoholic boy, but the Sober Man. It is nice being sober. Clear thinking, if still a little rash, but no where near as bad as it was before has been a Godsend. 24 hour, 48 hour and even 72 hour ruling important decisions has let me get better insight into the paths to take. Slowly things are coming together, becoming stable and less frightening. There is a lot going on in the World right now, a lot of it is very ugly. But, I need to be selfish, and work on my own self care right now. Otherwise, I could easily end up where I was at the end of 2018, looking for my next meal, and wondering if I was going to have enough gas to get back to the rest stop to sleep in my car...

*(As much as I know we had become toxic, and regardless of what has come to light over the last year, a part of me will always love her, we just won't ever be together again)

I've said it before....

Well for me, it's a sort of combo of issues.

We do have a category for 'Mature' stories, which would lead one to believe that these are stories dealing with the lives, loves and lusting of older couples - and that's greatly appreciated I'm sure, since we obviously have so many older folks here on the site, as evidenced by any number of posts in various categories.

However, most of the stories in the 'Mature' category are actually about May-December relationships. Now there's nothing wrong with that at all, and it can be interesting and fun. However, I believe we should put those stories in a category all their own, and leave the 'Mature' category for just that - stories relating to two mature adults getting together.

Then, we can talk about what "mature" really means, since it's truly a relative term, isn't it?

So you asked, and there's my $.02 worth.

What would I like to see more? stories written with a clear active focus on the female reader. Maybe even a reader added tag or something so they are easier to find. I guess that isn't really a genre, or is it. The issue is I can't even define it, quantify it, come up with a black and white checklist for it. I am probably not making any sense since one can't actually lump anything into for "men" versus "women" (well accept sex toys). It is just you can tell if something was written with the intention of reaching the male reader or the female reader. Words and patterns they use and how the describe the situation and a majority feel like they are written with a focus on the male reader.

So um yeah I'd like to see more group sex stories written while thinking of female readers in a way I can not verbalize, describe, rationalize, or explain. Awesome.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert or somewhere between? How does that affect your day to day life?

I am very extroverted. I am married to an introvert, so it affects me every single day trying to navigate our opposing needs.

I’m always looking for more connections. I can never have enough.

Introvert who has to learn to be extroverted here. It's painfully difficult because up to this point I've never really had to, but now if I want any real human connection in a city this size I have to make myself initiate the conversations. I find that very hard, and I stumble a lot. Perhaps in a year I'll have figured it out.

I’m an introvert with extroverted tendencies. Over time I’ve become more comfortable with pushing my extrovert boundaries but can still find myself slipping into introversion.

I think I have enough balance to be considered an ambivert but I do have an introvert lean. It is not really which I prefer, being alone or with people, as I like both and need both. If I spend too much time alone, I will get painfully bored. If I spend too much time with people, I will start to get hostile. My threshold for alone time is greater than my threshold for people time. For the most part, it doesn't affect my day to day life. Back in the day when I used to work in marketing, and there were week long trade shows, I would get a bit high strung by the end. There was demonstrating and selling all day, and wining and dining all night. Now, I sometimes get that overload with too many people, especially kids, like classroom parties and school field trips and amusement parks, basically just situations with high constant interaction, but I make it through. As far as too bored from too much alone time, I have a job with a good amount of interaction so I haven't hit that point since maternity leave. So yes, I can go a few weeks with low interaction before it takes a toll, but only a few days with high interaction before it takes a toll. Either way though, the balance of life tends to land in a way that works just fine for me.

I am an introvert. Classic symptoms of enjoying my solitude, needing peace and quiet, having to take time to myself to recharge. I can handle the hustle and bustle of life, and most people are surprised to learn I'm introverted. I am also highly empathetic, and tend to absorb other people's emotions, so that lends itself to needing time alone to recharge.

minthe, off topic, but i think your AV is beautiful. :) I've noticed it several times.

I like that there's no actual cleavage showing, and your necklace is gorgeous. The combination is classy and understated. Love it.:rose:

Depends on the situation.

I have some where I'm more extroverted and some where I am more introverted. I tend to sit back, observe, listen and think before speaking in situations where I am more introverted.

I do enjoy my own company, the solitude of the woods and water, and prefer the company of a close knit group of friends over large crowds.
