Love him.Day 28: A song that references religion/deity
For my more cynical days. The song itself starts around the 5:24 mark.
So many incredible versions of that songDay 28: A song that references religion/deity
I'm sure that I've posted this before, because I love this version. It mentions the Lord, and Hallelujah, but it has always felt to me like a hymn to the diety of sorrow, of broken & lost love.
Hallelujah-Rufus Wainwright
Jeff Buckley’s is my favouriteSo many incredible versions of that song

Day 28: A song that references religion/deity
I hear them as completely different songs. Jeff Buckley sounds like he's going through it, like it's a raw and open wound, and he longs for the person who caused it, to soothe it. While Wainright sounds like a sacred retrospective of something so holy he can't quite define it.Jeff Buckley’s is my favourite![]()
Cash's American Recordings records are all amazing.Day 28: A song that references religion/deity
Love these guys. This song made more sense after I spent some time living in Georgia. "Losing my religion" means getting supper pissed off, and losing that which keeps you civil. But "That's me in the corner/totally losing my shit" probably wouldn't have played as well on FM radio...
FYI..Lacuna Coil does a really amazing cover of this song that I love almost more than the original version. Almost. They put a Heavy Metal spin on it. Also a European YouTube Musician names Leo does as well (he does a ton of covers).Day 28: A song that references religion/deity
Love Lizzy Hale.Sing it Lzzy ... Has to be The Steeple..... It is Sinday
And then we have Leonard Cohen. ❤I hear them as completely different songs. It’s a fantastic song and most versions are very good. Won’t argue any of your opinions are wrong but my personal favorite is Leonard’s own. Helps that I did have the chance to see him do it live I suppose. And then we have Leonard Cohen. ❤
I heard Buckley's first when I was going through it. It probably is my fave honestly.
Totally justified. And Lucky you. I saw him do it live on television for the Olympics... does that count? It’s a fantastic song and most versions are very good. There's a show on Netflix called Song Exploder that talks to artists about their hit song. This is one of them they go into, and Michael Stipe was shocked that this song blew up.Day 28: A song that references religion/deity
Maiden is my favorite band! I was thinking of going Hallowed be Thy Name. But I went with a lighter choice. LOLThere's a show on Netflix called Song Exploder that talks to artists about their hit song. This is one of them they go into, and Michael Store was shocked that this song blew up.
Day 28:
I was torn on this one because I immediately thought of Iron Maiden's "For the Greater Good of God" but aside from the fact I've gone to them for more than a few sections, the song is almost 9 and a half minutes long.
But I was surprised that this track wasn't selected already. The whole album was theologically themed, but it's over 20 years old, so I'm not surprised if it wasn't on the top of anyone's tongue.
Disturbed "Prayer"
Maybe a bit religious overload but I love this band and the four religions they are dressed as.Day 28: A song that references religion/deity
