Jeff Buckley’s is my favourite 😍
I hear them as completely different songs. Jeff Buckley sounds like he's going through it, like it's a raw and open wound, and he longs for the person who caused it, to soothe it. While Wainright sounds like a sacred retrospective of something so holy he can't quite define it.

Love these guys. This song made more sense after I spent some time living in Georgia. "Losing my religion" means getting supper pissed off, and losing that which keeps you civil. But "That's me in the corner/totally losing my shit" probably wouldn't have played as well on FM radio...
Day 28: A song that references religion/deity

FYI..Lacuna Coil does a really amazing cover of this song that I love almost more than the original version. Almost. They put a Heavy Metal spin on it. Also a European YouTube Musician names Leo does as well (he does a ton of covers).

And then we have Leonard Cohen. ❤😍

I heard Buckley's first when I was going through it. It probably is my fave honestly.

It’s a fantastic song and most versions are very good. Won’t argue any of your opinions are wrong but my personal favorite is Leonard’s own. Helps that I did have the chance to see him do it live I suppose.

Totally justified. And Lucky you. I saw him do it live on television for the Olympics... does that count? 🤔 shit, that was K.D. Lang. I can't remember where he sang it on tv.

Day 28: A song that references religion/deity

There's a show on Netflix called Song Exploder that talks to artists about their hit song. This is one of them they go into, and Michael Stipe was shocked that this song blew up.

Day 28:

I was torn on this one because I immediately thought of Iron Maiden's "For the Greater Good of God" but aside from the fact I've gone to them for more than a few sections, the song is almost 9 and a half minutes long.

But I was surprised that this track wasn't selected already. The whole album was theologically themed, but it's over 20 years old, so I'm not surprised if it wasn't on the top of anyone's tongue.

Disturbed "Prayer"

Maiden is my favorite band! I was thinking of going Hallowed be Thy Name. But I went with a lighter choice. LOL
For the Greater Good of God is an amazing choice. But then again you also nailed it with Disturbed.

I'll definitely check that Netflix show out.
I also associate Losing My Religion with Beverly Hills 90210 when Dillon and Brenda break up! Now I'm really dating myself. LOL
