Day 12: A song that you discovered through this thread

Hayloft II - Mother Mother

When I saw @Whiskeyjack post this I thought it was an amazing revamp/cover of Nickel Creek's Hayloft and said as much. I was sweetly informed that Nickel Creek actually were the one's doing the covering.

This band is amazing and I have been listening to them when I'm not stuck on 80's and 90's music.

This was on the list of potential choices! Great song

I haven't posted much on this thread... But I am a creepy lurker sometimes - I know. It's so not surprising because I'm very shy. Anyway, I hadn't listened to The Smiths because I was barely born when a lot of their music came out and my family loved classical music and Broadway.
Long story not so short @__Nathan1968 posted a song that I liked so much I added it to my playlist.

The Smiths: Please please please let me get what I want

Day 12: A song that you discovered through this thread

I've been meaning to get into Ween since the late 90s, but I never seem to actually do it. They seem like they would be a perfect band for me to take one of my all-consuming deep dives into, where it's practically the only thing that I listen to for about a month, exploring every corner of their mythology and their world. I have had a few false starts down that path, where I've read interviews and researched the band... basically doing everything 'except' listening to the actual music. So I have felt like my lack of familiarity with Ween is a huge blind spot in my musical knowledge...
However, "through this thread" I have come to see that I may not even realize the totality of what I've been missing. I always assumed that Ween was quite Zappa-esque... maybe mixing in some Flaming Lips, a little Primus, hopefully a bit of my heroes in Devo... but basically all reveling in the "weird", for lack of a better term. And then, through this lovely thread, I heard an absolutely touching Ween song... which I was not expecting at all. So now I 'need' to explore the rest. This is so beautiful.

Edit: Whoops... I forgot to thank the person who introduced this song to us here.
I believe there was some joking about those of us who are "too old" to post properly. Guilty. Thank you @PassionatePanther! Your posts are as diverse, surprising and delightful as the band, and song, to which you turned me on! Life imitating art, perhaps. Truly wonderful posts, and song choices!
(Okay, that's too much ass-kissing, even for me. I'll show myself out.)

Ween - Stay Forever
