Day 27-A song from the 20s
Going with a local independent artist who sings in this song about growing up and living in a small town

Iโ€ฆhave never heard of this band but Iโ€™m gonna take a listen

This is exactly how I felt... lol.
The closer that we get to the present time period, the less music that I know... for sure!
But I enjoyed this one... a lot. The folks in this thread have opened my eyes (ears?) to a lot of good stuff...

Thatโ€™s one of the points of the thread Iโ€™m sure. So cool. I love discovering new things.

20โ€™s??

Hereโ€™s the number one song of the 20โ€™s

About the Song:

Not only is this the most recorded blues song of all time and maybe the most recorded American song of all time, but is has been called โ€œthe most important blues song ever written.โ€ William Christopher Handy, who became known as โ€œThe Father of the Blues,โ€ was a bandleader who performed to mixed race audiences throughout the southern United States. As jug bands gained in popularity, he was to compose music in a similar style, most notably with โ€œSt. Louis Blues,โ€ a lyric he claims he was inspired to write after hearing a St. Louis woman complaining about her cheating husband.

In 1925, Bessie Smithโ€™s version with Louis Armstrong on cornet hit #3 and it is the highest ranked version according to Daveโ€™s Music Database.

Everyone recorded a version. Cultural appropriation or appreciation?? Did they pay ??
