I did some research into "Congressional Immunity" the other week for one of the threads here on the GB. It's interesting that "if" the investigation uncovers what it looks like they're going to uncover, several Congressmen themselves are at risk of criminal prosecution and potential conviction while still in office.

Of those who seem to be involved in the behind the scenes activities, at least McCain will beat the rap. Maybe.

I think they only have immunity for what they say on the floor but that doesn't cover things like leaking classified material, bribery, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and other felonies.

But it only goes so far and (supposedly) doesn't cover felonies. Yet, in a couple of the cases I read, the courts applied it to what would normally be felony acts anyway.

I highly doubt the court could find a way to have it cover sedition if the evidence of such a crime was unassailable.
