I have heard people lament the climate of the General Board. Few people mention specifics, but clearly something has been lost.

I, for one, miss the truly open spirit of the place. The requirement to register was a huge blow to the hands-off approach the management seemed to once take.

Things are never as good as they used to be, and, furthermore, they never were.

What difference does it make if you have to register ? It's not as though you need any ID.

Yeah, it was really great when regular posters used to come in 'unregistered' and hurl abuse at people 'anonymously'. That was so cool.

Why is your ass not shaking?

There used to be a debate about the propriety of registering versus no registering. No more debate about that!

Truly, though, I can only speak for myself. Lit used to be (to me) a place where I could let it all hang out. I don't do that anymore much.

If that happened to you, it's a pity. But I can recall some funny as hell posts by unregistereds. And they were not abusive.

Again, I am sorry that happened for you... if it did.

Peachy's ass is shaking just fine.

Yummy.

;)

I have mixed feelings about how good the "good ole days" were.

Lit is what it is. Enjoy.

:D

One thing that has never sat well with me is the clientalism of the board. It's another old song. It reaches its more extreme form in the mutual cocksucking threads- you know, the personal recognition thing.... not content... just ego-stroking. There seems to be a lot of that here these days.

Well, maybe it was always there, but only now clueless riff begins to to notice it. Empiricism- gotta love it.

I guess I really don't know what you mean. Clientalism? Mutual cocksucking threads?

Are you talking about the never-endings, where friends gather to talk?

There hasn't been one of those "list threads" in eons.

I think, in many ways, I like it better than when I came. It still cycles, but people talk to people more - you don't have to be a part of a select group to be included. There are still some fun discussions, but, I know I find that I have discussed many of them before and no longer need to participate. I find other outlets here...

That observation was great. You are so cool.

Okay, now do me.

In the end, isn't Lit what we all choose to make of it? There's a lot I miss from my beginning days here, particularly certain posters. But, as this site continues to grow, things change. It's part of life. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

Had fun the other night though, bumping some old Lit Classic threads.:)

I agree. It is what we choose to make it.

Now as for this thread starter, what would you like to make of it?

;)

Been awhile since you've hung around riff~hope everythings going well. if you don't mind my saying you seem to be in better spirits than the last time i saw you here~i have to agree with summery~things are always what you make of them. sometimes after awhile you just get to know everyone so well theres not much new stuff to talk about except little things and small talk in private but i do agree these boards don't move the way they used to.

I've got jason preistly on the tube preaching at me about something. Something about education. Mighty nice of him or his image. Who am I to judge which is which?

For such deeply intense introperspectives i usually look.... beyond the board.

love u 2

pussies. Amelia (named after the board's one and only... don't be shy Amy come stand up) and Umberto... named the author that wrote about that terrible monk who asked too many questions in The Name Of The Rose, are swell.

Little red kitty. Big fat boy kitty. Smooches. Demanding fuckers they are.
