No, the Democrats did not lose by going too far left.

They lost by not going far left enough to offer any real, hopeful alternative to plutocratic rule and the low-wage economy it produces.

N.B.: DEI, CRT and wokeness are not "left". Those things cost the ruling class nothing. Left is all about the distribution of wealth. It's about flattening the socioeconomic pyramid.

There are a lot of obituaries going around and I am sure that eventually, there will be a consensus, but the gut feeling is that too many people looked at Kamala Harris and did not see the promise of a first (black) woman president or someone who looked like them, but someone who was out of their depth, inarticulate and too unserious to lead, the ultimate, absurd logical conclusion to AA and DEI and everything else championed as "fair." (This should be the jump the shark moment for those schools of thought.)

The problem for my former party is that as the traditional party of the working man, they were coopted by the elites who do not think highly of the working man (me), but rather see him as a hapless ward whose life must be managed in he/she/its best interests but they have yet to be successful in enticing us into group identity. We still want to pursue our own happiness.

They told us that, in this election, to our faces. At the upper echelons, the party is that far out of touch and starstruck and stars are insecure little shits who suddenly, in a political season are finding their insecurities validated and people really care about what they think, or so they think, and in the aggregate, they, Democrats, stars and all, treated all of us accordingly and demanded:

Who you gonna believe bitch? Me? or your lying eyes?

I do not, for a second, think they believe they have "superior" intellect.

They just think they have smarter intellect.

🤩

From No-Trump party to rump party in one election.

Libertarians salivate: in tragedy lies opportunity.

Let the smokin' Phoenix arise...

There ya go. They didn't go too far left..................they went bat shit crazy. It's going to take some time to purge their various mental illnesses from society.
I suppose on the plus side, they have a tendency to abort their kids and sterlize the ones that survive the womb (that thing the left thinks is more akin to a graveyard).

I have my doubts that the white working class would have listened even if they had. Bigotry is a very powerful drug. That's why the right hates education so much: they know it tends to defeat bigotry.
THIS is exactly why he won. Everything is still 'all white people are bigots" and that is literally all you have and have had for years, and what a surprise, you're still doing it because you cannot admit for a second that a political party needs more than name calling

The fact Latino and black men voted in much higher numbers this time for Trump is a great example of your bigotry. People tired of being told by leftist bigots that because of the color of their skin they have to vote left, and if they don't? They endure hatred from you because they got off your plantation.

People are waking up to who the true racists are.

Sexists as well...

2016 Dems run a woman and lose
2020 Dems run not just a man, but an old wealthy career politician, the 'patriarchy' they claim to stand against-and win
2024 Dems run a woman and lose.

Gee, its almost as if all the 'woke' men who squeal "girl power" aren't ready to vote for one.

Add misogyny to your bigotry.

Keep going and in 2028 it will be Vance with 60+ senate seats and a massive house majority.

8 years and nothing except white people bad, men bad, wahhhh racism, catering to mentally ill lunatics and shitting all over women with your 'trans men are women, and shit, don't say woman' bullshit has bitten you in the ass.

And after a massive loss....you're going to keep doing the same thing. Definition of insanity and all that.

Go wash your whites and march in the next parade, after all, your party founded the Klan.

Ample proof of that.
All snark aside, the left faction of this forum is a microcosm of everything wrong with the party. Rory N screeching hysterically for mistreatment of anyone who voted for Trump, the clown I quoted still calling everyone a bigot....still on about identity politics with nothing resembling a platform.

My wife hates Trump, but she's sane about it and as she told one her TDS riddled friends "I am not going to say 71 million people in this country are evil or even wrong for what they believe, hate is never the answer. I pray for everyone, even him."

My wife is a true 'tolerant liberal'

If there were more like her, we wouldn't have the divide we have.

Fact is, the people in this forum, and the left, want to hate everything, including themselves. They're mostly white and cry about how bad their own skin is. Self loathing is a nasty and powerful thing.

But I won't pray for them. I don't believe in god at all, and I'm petty. Maye they'll smarten up, or maybe they'll stroke out in their next unhinged rant. They've earned no sympathy.

And that is why Life is so cruel to them.
I grew up with serious rage issues. Still cope with them. I have to be very disciplined with myself and always on guard to make sure I keep my mind in a certain place. I understand anger and rage and to a degree hate, in a way these people don't because my issues are from real experiences, not being lied to and divided by media and politicians.

They want to hate, they want to be angry, they want to feel morally superior, they are not happy unless they are not happy and want to be part of a self-righteous lynch mob. End of the day, all their anger is a projection of their own problems. So insecure and so deluded they cannot do anything but hate anyone who thinks differently.

One of the Tiktok meltdowns going around was of a young woman saying "I will not support hate" then saying "Everyone who voted for him is dead to me."

People think its funny, I think its sad because this kid has been brainwashed and indoctrinated into being a close minded hatemonger who thinks she's "A good person"

They need to hold up the mirror to themselves rather than blame everyone else.

In the meantime, they just think they know what rage is. All we have here are keyboard warriors and bullies who would never act in public like they do here.

Why?

Because they might run into someone who takes their rage to a physical level, and they are not prepared for that.

Posers.

If the shoe was on the other foot, one could make the other argument.

This board is not a microcosm of anything - too small of a sample to judge anything. In the real world, I know of people who voted for Trump that I am on the opposite side and treat me well and vice versa. And I know those who have broken friendships. I know people on the left who hate Trump no matter what, and those who didn't vote for Kamala despite being "left."

Being left-leaning, I can say Democrats can take identity politics too far and serve small special interest groups. Or, not take a strong stand. E.g. Palestinian issue - I wish Kamala Harris and DNC spoke to these people or let these people speak at the DNC.

I for one, wished Trump the best when he took his first term. And yet, he reminded me so much of politicians of other countries - petty, unstatesmanlike, corrupt, etc. I hoped he would govern for all Americans and he lost his chance. He also didn't get much of support when he declined to concede. I remember the time when I thought Bill Clinton was unpresidential, and it had nothing to do with the party.

That is not the way I see it. Americans do not want to hear about gays, gender transfers, reparations, men playing in women's sports, letting illegal aliens run rampent cross the border and everything the Dems want to do to elevate the weird and illegal to a status above the norm. Take a fucking lesson.
