Have you guys ever tried boysenberry jam though? The flavor is like a cross between raspberries and blackberries, but somehow so much better! Knott’s Berry Farm (So Cal theme park that started out as an actual functioning berry farm) used to sell a variety of preserves and marmalades and jams, including boysenberry (with or without seeds), but Smuckers bought them out and killed the entire product line a few years ago. Other brands of boysenberry jam can still be found online though. Strawberry preserves are my second choice.

Boysenberries are AMAZING! The only ones I like better are huckleberries. One of the things I miss from living out West!

Ughhh…so the pastor that spoke at my brother’s funeral (his uncle, not mine) kept saying “HELLO?!” when there was no response during his speech. It annoyed me to no end. We were fucking grieving, it was not a call and response type of audience! He baptized me when I was younger, but I absolutely do not want him speaking at my funeral if he outlives me.

I’ve never had huckleberries, but @UnquietDreams made them sound SO good when he went to the huckleberry festival a couple months or so ago

Marrionberries, an Oregon varietal, has a very similar flavor to boysenberries. They are both fantastic.

Oh, huckleberry jam with peanut butter is lovely.

You can still get boysenberry jam at Knott's. And boysenberry juice and ICEEs. And boysenberry meatballs. I'm looking forward to when they have the boysenberry festival to try all the boysenberry stuff. Fun fact... Knott's was the first commercial grower of the boysenberry.

Did you ever try Elbows that used to be in the same shopping center as Target near LCC? They had sooo many great variations on mac n cheese and grilled cheese / paninis. I think I had one with bacon, caramelized onion jam and…I want to say possibly a mix of havarti and either white cheddar or smoked Gouda? Pretty much everything I tried there was drool-worthy though! I didn’t live in the area when they were here and am sad they’re gone now

Yup. I tried it once with a bunch of friends and I remember liking everything that we got. But I think I never went back again because it's hard to eat so much Mac and cheese

Theres so much good food across the street from there now that I don't really miss it.

I saw this caramelized onion grilled cheese that looked sooo good. I can't wait to try it when I have some good bread and enough time to caramelize onions.

I think chutney has jam added! You can caramelise onions naturally without jam it just takes some patience…

It’s been tooooo long since I’ve been to Knott’s. I love that they have boysenberry punch fountain drinks and boysenberry funnel cake too. Have never been to the boysenberry festival, but want to someday!

Also, this is now reminding me of a random social media exchange I had with a Brady Bunch star about Knott’s boysenberry jam too

I…don’t think eating too much mac n cheese has ever been a problem for me! I loved getting Elbows on those rare occasions I was in town visiting family.

My life changed after someone told me caramelized onions should be a dark brown color. Now I spend a lot of time doing it but it tastes so good. I do a huge batch at a time and just add it to random things
