So you really don’t think that there’s some asshole in Hamasland waiting in the wings that says, “Sldfjwoij is dead, I can do waaay better than he did!”

You’re kidding yourself.
Not all Palestinian Arabs are genocidal maniacs. Don't write the Gazans off so easily.

I've maintained all along that Hamas was a cancer on Gaza, ruthlessly stealing from the Gazan people and hiding behind them to attack Israel.

It would have been nice if the people of Gaza had risen up a looooong time ago and overthrown Hamas - or at least given Israel a heads up about the impending 10/7 attack…

The people of Gaza stood silent before 10/7, and they are now paying a heavy price.

😑

More details have emerged about the final minutes of Sinwar. A random IDF patrol spotted someone suspicious hiding in a building and fired a tank shell at him.

Three men fled -- Sinwar and his two bodyguards one of whom was a UN employee.

In the running firefight that ensued, Sinwar got separated from his bodyguards and ran to the second floor of another building. The IDF sent in a drone to investigate, then fired another tank shell into the room where he was.

Sinwar's body was later found in the rubble. It's lucky it happened like this. Sinwar has kept himself surrounded by hostages to prevent the IDF from taking him out with an airstrike. This way no innocent Palestinians or hostages were killed in the operation.

Point to me, on this doll of a dead Sinwar, where the UN hurt you.
UNRWA supports Hamas. UNIFIL supports Hezbollah. UN organizations should not be collaborating with terrorists. It undermines the mission of the United Nations and endangers all UN workers worldwide.

There's no evidence that the International Red Cross has collaborated with Hamas, but they certainly haven't applied any pressure to ensure the health and safety of the Israeli hostages during their year of captivity.

This is a more complex situation.

I suggest you watch Spy Game with Brad Pitt and Robert Redford...it does a good job of explaining that part of things

It's very simple. The UN as a multinational institution should not be picking sides in a war, and they definitely should not be supporting terrorism. If UNIFIL had done its job in Lebanon over the last 20 years, the IDF would not be fighting on Israel's northern border. If UNRWA had done its job in Gaza over the last 75 years, IDF would not be fighting a war on Israel's western border.

The moment Hamas refused to allow the Red Cross access to the hostages, my attitude towards the total war approach to dealing with Hamas in Gaza changed dramatically.

Hearing that Sinwar had a UN employee as a bodyguard is as infuriating as it is unsurprising.

Another stain on the UN and the international community.

Netanyahu calls on the Gazans holding the hostages to lay down their arms and let the hostages go.

“Sinwar destroyed your lives. He told you he was a lion, but in practice, he hid in a dark tunnel and was eliminated when he fled in a panic from our soldiers. His elimination is an important milestone in the demise of the Hamas axis of evil.

“Hamas will no longer rule Gaza. This is the beginning of the day after Hamas, and this is an opportunity for you, the residents of Gaza, to finally break free from its tyranny. And at the same time I say, whoever harms our hostages, his blood will be on his head. We will come to a reckoning with him.”

Let's hope the people of Gaza listen.

I offered up information. Ignore it if you want.

It's not simple.

The problem is that Netanyahu is essentially telling Gaza residents to break free from Hamas's tyranny and then starve to death in a refugee camp.

He has 29 days to either reverse that policy or lose access to offensive weapons from the Biden administration.

When Hamas stops stealing the aid that Israel sends to Gaza, there won't be any danger of starvation. The death of Sinwar makes the liberation of the Palestinian people infinitely more likely. There is now a route forward to end the killing and suffering in Gaza.

There won't be any starvation anymore because the rules have changed.

The United States of America essentially ordered a "cease and desist" on Israel from using that particular excuse on Tuesday.

America made it clear that food and medicine are to be delivered to Gaza relief efforts without conditions or exceptions, and if some is stolen so be it.

The USA also demanded "dual use" items (civilian stuff that could theoretically be used by Hamas) no longer to be subject to embargo by Israel. I suspect that means importing gasoline into Gaza.

The consequence of failure to abide by the new US dictates is suspension of offensive military aid to Israel beginning in 29 days.

Israel has proven that they are incapable of basic human decency in Gaza and in a 24/7 news cycle they no longer even try to hide their culpability in their war crimes. They convinced themselves that the United States would always "have their back", no matter what. It's obviously the Israeli government miscalculated badly. Actions finally have consequences, and the United States is stepping in to change the rules of engagement as a result.

About damned time.

The US State Department has to certify every single munitions export as being used in accordance with the rules of war. President Biden has instructed the State department to withhold certification on munitions export to Israel if they refuse to "bend the knee" and conduct military operations with an emphasis on minimizing civilian casualties. The deadline for compliance is in 29 days.

No certification, no military aid leaves the confines of the United States.

UNRWA supports Hamas.
The State Department explicity rejects that assertion.
After the 10/7 attack on Israel, Israel claimed (without proof) that "1200" UNRWA workers were active in Hamas and 12 of those 1200 (of the 13,000 total) actually participated in the attack itself.

After investigation, it was determined that 0.22% (far less than one percent) of UNRWA workers were involved in Hamas activities.

The United States, as part of the "new rules", declared Israel MUST allow UNRWA workers to return to Gaza.

Tonight new MAGAt election commercials in Arizona have already jumped on this Biden policy, alleging that being critical of Netanyahu is "anti-Semitic", and that Harris will be even worse in this regard.

I suspect the ad was paid for by AIPAC. "Errything critical of Israel is ipso facto anti-Semitic!"

Joining Hamas might well seem like the best available option, to many a patriotic Palestinian of good heart and civic virtue.

It is at any rate a more reasonable and honorable choice than voting Likud would be to an Israeli.
