Look, I was skeptical of Ukraine, too, especially after the failure of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars (especially after the lies about WMDs and the Afghanistan Papers), but let's be blunt here, the Ukraine operation, even allowing for graft, corruption, etc., is still a cost-effective way to bleed the Russian war machine and frustrate Putin (possibly even destabilize his rule). We also offload a bunch of obsolete hardware, also in a very cost-effective manner. Not a bad deal for the West at all. Even with the corruption and waste, it's still a great bang for our buck. Look, as I said before, I can understand the Ukraine skepticism, because I bought into it, but the more information that I've gotten, the more research that I've done, the more exposure I have to multiple perspectives, the convinced that I am that the pro-Ukraine policy is our best bet to contain Putin. He can prop up his economy for a time with Chinese aid, but it's a house of cards that's waiting to collapse, and the more that he has to lean on young Russian men for manpower, along with issues caused by economic sanctions, the worse off he will be as the war drags on without any hope of victory. This was supposed to be a quick land grab, and yet it has become the biggest quagmire for the Russians since Chechnya, possibly since Afghanistan.

The whole Tea Party movement got its start over this rather contrived moral outrage that the "subprime" borrowers were getting a break. That's literally what provoked the initial "Tea Party" rant that inspired the movement. I should know. I was a Republican at the time and got sucked into it for a while, before I discovered that most of the "moral hazard" panic that the GOP feels is on behalf of the rich, not the middle class.
