Hurricane Hell-ene

Let's remember, everyone, the folks who never shut up about damages caused by the riots think thousands of destroyed homes are funny.

BabyBoobs is pure garbage and a total POS.

What do you expect???

1 dam catastrophically failing in TN, another expected to in NC, people scrambling to evacuate

Waterville Dam, TN

NEWPORT, Tenn. β€”
An emergency evacuation is underway in Newport, Tennessee, after a dam suffered a "catastrophic failure" amid the torrential rains brought forth by what was Hurricane Helene.

Tennessee Emergency managers are telling everyone in the downtown area of Newport to leave immediately due to the failure of the Walters Dam along the Pigeon River, and the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Emergency.

The break was reported at 3:30 p.m. ET and NWS officials said a flood wave of water will rush down the Pigeon River over the next three to four hours, reaching downtown Newport about 6 p.m. ET.

Lake Lure Dam NC

National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists are urging North Carolina residents in Rutherford County that are downstream of the Lake Lure Dam to evacuate immediately as the dam is at risk of imminent failure.

The Broad River reportedly leapt by 10 feet in only a few hours after Hurricane Helene, which has since weakened to a tropical storm, brought torrential rainfall across North Carolina on Friday. The river flooding has stressed the dam to the point of failure, prompting a flash flood emergency for more than 3,000 people downstream of the river. Evacuations are now in place.

"URGENT: FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR THE LAKE LURE DAM! DAM FAILURE IMMINENT! RSIDENTS BELOW THE DAM NEED TO EVACUATE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY!" the NWS office in Greenville-Spartanburg posted on X, formerly Twitter.

The FlightAware app showing very crowded airways today, as literally hundreds of commercial passenger planes are being re-routed around Hurricane Hellene.

One plucky 737 chose to fly directly THROUGH the hurricane. No, it wasn't Spirit Airlines....it was Frontier.

Florida condo residents told to evacuate after building collapse fears

Elderly Florida residents are being asked to immediately leave their pricey condos behind as officials warn of 'structural problems' with the building's foundation. Springbrook Gardens is pushing the 12 residents to evacuate by Friday - leaving many in distress as they scramble to find a new place to stay.
Eviction notices have been plastered across the 18-unit building after an engineer told the city's building department that the foundations in one of the sections are in bad condition and could collapse any time. 'Everybody was in shock. It hasn't hit me yet, it really hasn't. [We were told] building is unsafe, get the hell out,' said Warren Sackler, a retired New York professor.
'When we got up, we got a letter from the engineer being sent over to the city telling the city to come down to evacuate us immediately because the winds are more than 35 miles an hour and the wind may blow it down,' Thomas Murphy told WSVN . Since the engineer's report, the Certificate of Occupancy for Springbrook Gardens has been revoked by city officials till 'necessary structural repairs can be made to ensure the safety of residents', according to NBC6 .

dozens airlifted from hospital roof, Erwin East TNβ€”all patients and staff safe
There were 54 people on the roof and seven people in rescue boats, Ballad Health said.

The "dangerous rescue operation" began earlier Friday after the hospital became "engulfed by extremely dangerous and rapidly moving water" from the Nolichucky River, Ballad Health said.

County officials deployed ambulances to evacuate 11 patients from the hospital, but the property flooded "so quickly the ambulances could not safely approach," Ballad Health said. Boats were brought in to assist with the evacuation, but were unable to safely navigate the water around the hospital.

the picture at the top of the article is really quite shocking! the building almost half-way submerged, raging waters all around and just a thin strip of green maybe 2 cars wide at best separating that water from the next

more to the east and north as far as i can tell, but a whole lot of water there falling on already saturated ground from rain for days there.

where we are, south central TN, we got no rain till yesterday evening, and that was fine soaking rain we so badly needed, with steady but not really heavy rain all through the night and through this morning. Mostly just completely overcast now, not much rain falling now but more expected tomorrow and some heavier burst sunday.

that death toll is sure to rise in areas that saw the 15' storm surge, and Asheville NC is getting some shit as rain is dumped and dumped on the mountains.

"This will be one of the most significant weather events to happen in the western portions of the area in the modern era. Record flooding is forecasted and has been compared to the floods of 1916 in the Asheville area," officials at the National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, said in a post on X on Thursday.

Landslides capable of washing out bridges and roads are possible during this flooding event, NWS said.

"We plead with everyone that you take every single weather warning very seriously through the entirety of this event as impacts will be life-threatening and make sure to have multiple ways to receive the alerts," NWS said in a public information statement.

There are a lot of people who will vote for him for precisely these reasons. Read some of the posts on this forum by ChloeTzang, the Hisarpy/HumpdayHoratio/Icanhelp guy, (thepostercurrentlyknownas) LessOhmo, and so on, to understand the fucked-in-the-head mentality of these kind of sub-humans.

Hoping that none of this forum members are in the damage zone today or have family there. Ashville is currently fucked.

I am donating to local efforts here to send that way and hope others do the same.

Rep Diane Harshbarger (R TN): "Who would think a hurricane could do this much damage in East Tennessee?"

Bill Lee Gov. TN "there have been thousands of Tennesseans praying"

Floridian resident who chose to stay put instead of evacuate: "I recommend everyone to evacuate when they tell you to, don't stay put for a storm this size"

Floridian resident (another) who chose not to leave: "Well the storm was, like, 100 miles off-shore and, well, no-one had any idea how big this would be"

*sigh*
