My house is largely MCM in design and interior decorating

My eyes love the minimalist look of MCM, but the rest of me craves (hidden) storage everywhere! If I ever did go full MCM, I would need like an entire wall of hidden storage or something

Exactly! Midcentury-modern interiors and “googie” architecture (think The Jetsons aesthetic) were all about optimism for the future as the space age was taking off.

Eero Saarinen, the designer of the table and chairs in the 2nd pic, was quoted as saying:

"The undercarriage of chairs and tables in a typical interior makes an ugly, confusing, unrestful world. I wanted to clear up the slum of legs. I wanted to make the chair all one thing again."

He also designed the Gateway Arch of St Louis:
