Sex & Shenanigans

Some of my vocabulary is stuck in the 90s. Whatever. I'm outtie. Talk to the hand, home skillet.
It’s not just the time, but the place. Its origins are very NorCal-specific and it got ridiculously overused around 2001-2002. I was on a different forum back then that was like 92% 18 to 27-year old AAPIs from California, and “hella” was the dividing line between NorCal and SoCal 😜

That, and the No Doubt song “Hella Good” was cringe AF and signaled their decline and end 😒

Now that you mention it, the first time I remember hearing it was friend a friend from San Francisco. She was hot so it stuck.

... I don't know why I said she "was" hot. She probably still is.

Do you think your consciousness extends past death or do you think when you die it’s just lights out.
When you die you die. It's scary, but humans are just more advanced animals. Our brains struggle to accept death and finding some blissful alternative is a coping mechanism with the harsh reality that every living thing, with some exceptions, dies as part of the general cycle of life.

That would make sense.... since I never, EVER, heard anyone say "hella" until someone played that No Doubt song for me.

Follow-up question:

For those who believe in some form of afterlife:
Hypothetically, if a person had more than one great love of their life, and both of those relationships were ended by death, not break-ups…how would it be determined whom they spend their afterlife with? Would it be first, last, longest-lasting, deepest emotions? Would the other be forced to wander the afterlife alone, or at least until they meet someone there? Or would it be like a hippy free love kind of situation?

That’s a great question and I’m not really sure how it would work. I think it would be closer to the free love situation, but people who loved each other truly and deeply could find each other.

But that’s kind of a knee jerk answer since I haven’t really thought about it much

I have given this a lot of thought and have strong beliefs about it. But there isn't a short, one or two line answer. But - we are definitely not alone in whatever it is that comes next (in my opinion).

This is a fun concept to think about and has been used for movies and television.

Tricky. My mind says it's lights out, good night, but my heart is still buddhist. As the samsara continues, one is reborn again and again and again, striving through self improvement to finally say "yeah fuck this noise, I'm out" and then peacing off to nirvana.

I believe that rebirth is instantaneous; your self leaves your body at the time of death, and is reborn as another life somewhere else with nothing in between, while some paths believe there is a time of nothingness (many believe in a very specific time frame of 49 days) which to me is absolutely ridiculous. Those silly people. Of course it's instant. ☺️

I always found it funny how the abrahamic religions speak about eternal life as the ultimate reward, while I just wanna be done with it all.

I don't know. I'd like to think there's more.

Our energy exists. It has to go somewhere. So whether that moves into some other life, or being or whatever, noone knows. It's unlikely it will be as who we are. But not impossible.

If I was to pick an answer. I'll take this one.

For those of you that believe in an afterlife … where you exist with all your loved ones …

Do you think you have to wait until they die or is it instantaneous … you all exist together simultaneously after death.
