I can use who/whom and farther/further and affect/effect correctly, but those are some of the things I rarely correct. If I have to stop and think about which one to use, chances are others aren’t going to get it right 100% of the time either. The idea of "correcting" someone to say "whom"? WTF??? That is one I likely wouldn't even notice.
I honestly don't let it bother me... I just always notice. And my idea of "fixed it for you" is generally never about grammar.
Oh yeah... you've probably seen that.![]()

That’s something that completely takes me out of some Literotica stories and drives me mad.Okay, everything is learned behavior. But there is a flow to conversation, written or spoken. And when your mind finds a word that it has to stop and recontextualize, it takes you out of the flow.

When I corresponded with Hong Kong, the ending was either Regards or Best RegardsI worked for Brits for many years. One of my favorite things about quitting that job is I can now end emails with Cheers without worrying that they’ll think I’m mocking them. Which is really an oddly common occurrence in my life.
Those non-best regards were probably how you know she was pissedWhen I corresponded with Hong Kong, the ending was either Regards or Best Regards

to too twoHomophones are the worst. Youonly care because you’ve been taught to. Never once have you been speaking to someone and stopped to think “do they mean ‘you are’ here?” It’s impossible to mistake the meaning in speech, and if you haven’t been taught to do so in writing you wouldn’t either.
always was a fan of the past perfect...Oh cool, grammar talk, especially present tense vs future tense, was so fun yesterday……more grammar talk.
The best friend chicken come from my kitchen....Went quite a ways out of the way to a soul food buffet that I was promised had the best fried chicken in the world by someone I trust very completely on food.

and yet most of us can understand words written backwards or with numbers mixed in themExactly, on a lot of things like that. Your eyes see it, your brain knows that word doesn't belong there, and your eyes then stumble over it.
