Sex & Shenanigans

Haven't been in forums long enough. I remain thankful for the 2 of you who continue in my DMs šŸ˜‚
I’ve got a few a week or so old, and honestly they aren’t ā€œhangingā€ the conversation largely wrapped up

I haven’t since I had to correct a friend about 20 years ago about… how… constantly… using ellipses… makes… you… look … stupid… in text….
When i was a journalist I interviewed someone once who... spoke... so... ponderously... it... was... torture...

I left quite a lot of those in the article. My editor removed every single one. Have barely used them since out of shame šŸ˜‚

lol I remember being in HS and going to Best Buy to purchase the Beastie Boys' Hello Nasty. The first track, Super Disco Breakin', has a siren about 40 seconds into it. We popped it in and pulled out of the parking lot, and when that thing went off, we looked all around and took a good 30 seconds to realize it was on the song. 🤣

Hey hey hey. I understand, but I will hear no criticisms of It šŸ˜‚ That whole story was about love, friendship, and the incomparable power of childhood wonder, which he captured better than any other author writing for adults that I’ve ever read…

and this 🤣🤣🤣
The man just plain knows how to spin a good tale, and does it well every time.

They are like salt, to season, not make a meal of. I live in the ellipses. The one that gets me in trouble in the em-dash. I think so parenthetically that I can end up with multiple in a single sentence, which @vagrantx has called me out on before.

I was a pretty big hip hop fan in my younger years (Ice Cube, Ice-T, NWA) so this kind of thing would happen to me on occasion while driving. 🤣

As we settle into the Tuesday slump …. What is something recently that you’ve done / seen / read / listened to … that didn’t live up to the hype.
Noah Kahan's music. I know people who absolutely connect, but I cannot, though I tried. I have been told it is because he is from New England and I am not flinty enough. Maybe my cultural vocabulary is different.
