Sex & Shenanigans

“The ellipsis always knows something more came before it and something more is coming after it. It connects sentences, but it holds space for itself, too."
Excerpt from Long Division by Kiese Laymon

So I was trying to pick a free birthday ebook from a small selection from Simon & Schuster (for which all my fellow book nerds should also sign up to get free ebooks periodically), and had it narrowed down to 3 before I fell asleep. Just looked them up on Goodreads and this quote in 1 of the reviews reminded me of our convo about ellipses the other day.

My favorite was FF Tactics...

And I threw in those ellipses at the end of the sentence just for @vagrantx.

Back to ellipses, eh? …

Well, I use them a lot (apparently, it's an old-person thing?). I just know she was getting persnickety about them last week.

I use them on the daily … I can’t help myself.

I’m definitely old… I’m on the verge of decrepit
Holy punctuation, Batman! Get out of my head, @Whiskeyjack ! Was just typing about ellipses when you said that too! 😱

Oh I wear it as a badge of honor! That she compared me to Stephen King literally sent me bawling 😹

No, your characters are over 18 for the sex scenes...
Hey hey hey. I understand, but I will hear no criticisms of It 😂 That whole story was about love, friendship, and the incomparable power of childhood wonder, which he captured better than any other author writing for adults that I’ve ever read…
Ooooo right. Meh, a cocained up King can do whatever the fuck he wants. He churns out masterpieces on a conveyor belt.
and this 🤣🤣🤣
The man just plain knows how to spin a good tale, and does it well every time.

As we settle into the Tuesday slump …. What is something recently that you’ve done / seen / read / listened to … that didn’t live up to the hype.

Went quite a ways out of the way to a soul food buffet that I was promised had the best fried chicken in the world by someone I trust very completely on food.

It was great, don’t get me wrong. But it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, and it wasn’t worth the travel or the cost for what Ingot.
