8th night of Hanukkah

🕎
This is a remarkable picture from so many different directions. The warm light from the candles dancing. The colors of the wax. They way it is all flowing together, creating connections and blurring where one starts and another begins, like joys and families and memories and traditions. The base looks like a well-loved heirloom. And it is the last night of the lights. Wonderful picture, Princess.

The base is actually made of a very simple salt dough. A tradition that I grew up doing and now do with my kids. The day before Hanukkah we make the dough and then make menorahs with it. We bake them to harden and then paint them. Then we use them for Hanukkah and toss them in the trash at the end. Fun/creative activity and removes the tedious process of de-waxing a classic metal menorah.
