The Oklahoma Supreme Court has ruled that the approval of the nation’s first state-funded Catholic charter school is unconstitutional.

I think the decision follows precedent. The State cannot endorse any single religion and the State funded Catholic schools do exactly that.

Vouchers, OTOH, don't violate this prohibition and that's what the State should have done.

SCOTUS upholds ruling in 4-4 split, A.C.B recused herself

The Supreme Court issued a one-line opinion upholding the Oklahoma Supreme Court's ruling that taxpayer-funded religious schools would violate both the state and U.S. constitutions.

"The judgment is affirmed by an equally divided Court," the Supreme Court wrote in an unsigned ruling, so it is not known how each justice voted on the issue.

The court action leaves in place lower court rulings that said the arrangement would have violated the establishment clause of the First Amendment.

Because the high court divided evenly, its decision is not a binding precedent nationwide and sets the stage for the entire court to reconsider the issue in a future case, perhaps from another state.

Saw that.

A. C. B. is disappointing the MAGAts on a fairly regular basis LATELY ((A. C. B. and the other radical theocrats on the SCOTUS have already done unprecedented damage to the country).

Still, a relatively significant ruling that will at least slow the transformation of America into a Christo-fascist theocracy.
