Would you consider The Good Place a sitcom?I do not agree but I think it’s in the conversation for sure.
And what does anyone consider the greatest sitcom?

Definitely top 5. Community and 30 Rock are in the running as well.I'll say it. Arrested Development is the best sitcom ever made
I would and I’d place it on the conversation too. I think all such lists are inherently fluid though.Would you consider The Good Place a sitcom?

Is this one of your lists yet?Definitely top 5. Community and 30 Rock are in the running as well.

It's a sci fi show, but the first couple of seasons are a character driven hard boiled detective show. Not procedural like CSI, but mystery-esque like Broadchurch. Sort of neo-noir. Space-noir? Truly excellent and the best sci fi there is!
Or if you want to laugh until your stomach hurts, then Arrested Development is the way to go. Incredible, punny writing.
Aaaand if you want to laugh and cry in equal measures, then go for BoJack Horseman. It's proof that you can love and root for an absolutely despicable and irredeemable main character! (Stars Will Arnett from Arrested Development)
edit: Ah! Can't forget about Undone! A very, very trippy and cerebral show that has you questioning where to draw the lines between reality and fiction. I binged both season over a single weekend. (Made by the creator of BoJack Horseman. I'm starting to see a red thread here...)
What's the best sitcom if not AD?I do not agree but I think it’s in the conversation for sure.
I would say Sunny gives a run for it's money but some would say apples and oranges..What's the best sitcom if not AD?
The density of funny. The creativity of the storyline and characters in the show. The perfect casting. All the call backs. The sheer wit and execution of everything...
There's lots of really great, funny, smart sitcoms out there, but there's just no other show that is so creatively unhinged and well executed as AD.

I really struggled to like the characters in Always Sunny so I couldnt enjoy it as muchI would say Sunny gives a run for it's money but some would say apples and oranges..
They are awful people. Oddly enough, I say the same thing about Seinfeld (which the show's concept kind of spawned from according to Rob McElhenney the creator.)I really struggled to like the characters in Always Sunny so I couldnt enjoy it as much

The Good Place for me, off the top of my head. So incredibly intelligent, well written, controlled, incredibly well run, amazing cast, and hilarious writing and acting. No bad seasons, few weak episodes, trusts the audience, and deals with complex philosophical issues in an easy to access manner. Brilliant forking show. What's the best sitcom if not AD?

Always sunnyWhich?
Yeah, I'm sorry. I thought you meant Arrested.Always sunny
I hope you're only referring to the first 3 seasons. The 4th and 5th seasons weren't total trainwrecks, but there was a marked downgrade in quality. What's the best sitcom if not AD?

Yea I can see that. I don't love Seinfeld for the same reason. I think it is just personal taste here. They are awful people. Oddly enough, I say the same thing about Seinfeld (which the show's concept kind of spawned from according to Rob McElhenney the creator.)

Yes. First three seasons. It was hard for me to watch the newer seasons because I had such a high expectations and it was a let down.I hope you're only referring to the first 3 seasons. The 4th and 5th seasons weren't total trainwrecks, but there was a marked downgrade in quality.
Likewise, I'd put Parks and Rec in the running for best sitcom, if not for the wobbly 1st season before it found its footing.
Best sitcom start to finish has to be Schitt's Creek for me.
How I Met Your Mother, to me maximized density of humor, relatability of the ‘situation’, likability of characters, and lasting catch phrases, jokes, and gags. What do you think is the greatest sitcom?

Schitt’s Creek is too perfect a show for me to consider it a sit-com.I hope you're only referring to the first 3 seasons. The 4th and 5th seasons weren't total trainwrecks, but there was a marked downgrade in quality.
