Sex & Shenanigans

The thing is I go on these wild tangents. I watched a movie called Abigail on Saturday on my ex's recommendation. I had no idea what it was going to be about.

Well, now I'm on this whole "I need to watch all movies in the Universal Monsters universe" and those movies started in 1931 lol
Um… yeah… I have a bunch of those on DVD… 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This weekend I was watching “Scary Movie” and the second one. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Time enjoyed is not time wasted. If you enjoy movies and tv then that's a perfectly wonderful life! I had my adventures in my 20s and now I just enjoy the stillness of a quiet life 🥰
100% in agreement with this!

I have so many recommendations it's bordering on the absurd. What genres do you like? Apart from horror, that one I know!
I like all types of movies and TV. The original L Word was a mess I was there for. Weeds was also fun chaos to watch. I like things with smart writing. But at times I just want the drama of Grey's Anatomy so I can focus on their issues and not mine, lol.

So recommend anything, really, and I will give it a go!

Then if you want something that will truly absorb you, try The Expanse! It's a sci fi show, but the first couple of seasons are a character driven hard boiled detective show. Not procedural like CSI, but mystery-esque like Broadchurch. Sort of neo-noir. Space-noir? Truly excellent and the best sci fi there is!

Or if you want to laugh until your stomach hurts, then Arrested Development is the way to go. Incredible, punny writing.

Aaaand if you want to laugh and cry in equal measures, then go for BoJack Horseman. It's proof that you can love and root for an absolutely despicable and irredeemable main character! (Stars Will Arnett from Arrested Development)

edit: Ah! Can't forget about Undone! A very, very trippy and cerebral show that has you questioning where to draw the lines between reality and fiction. I binged both season over a single weekend. (Made by the creator of BoJack Horseman. I'm starting to see a red thread here...)

Out of these, I have only watched Bojack and absolutely Ioved it. It's a tough binge, really plays on the darker emotions.

I added the others to my list. I knew of Arrested Development of course, but only watched part of the first season. I'll let you know when I start one of these (and the Ranking of Kings, too)

I second this. Fantastic sci-fi. Final season felt a little superfluous but oh man all so good.

Preach, Miss, preach. A Fish out of Water (the silent underwater episode) had me holding my breath for the entire episode.. It's a beautiful and twisted show.

Yay!! 🤗 Ranking of Kings is wonderful! If you do try it, give it two episodes (each is only about 20 minutes). The second one sells the show. I'm hesitant to recommending anime most of the time since it's such an acquired taste, but some of the shows are truly amazing.

Agreed! The first 3 seasons are masterpieces. The latter 3 seasons are... great, but not as great, if that makes sense. It went from the best thing ever to something really good.

I am slow on most "must watch" stuff as well. Just watched Lost. Still haven't seen Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Sopranos, or A Song of Ice and Fire (or "Boobs and Dragons." Read a few of the books and figured out any character I liked would, if they were lucky, only die horribly, and gave it up as an abusive relationship).

Didn't finish Arrested Development or It's Always Sunny...(which I hated). Heck, I have never seen The Shawshank Redemption or Field of Dreams.

Only Murders
is probably the newest I have watched, and that is for Short and Martin.

Letterkenny is lowbrow and stupid. Gross, at times. Catchphrases, many catchphrases. But that said, the dialogue is clever and fast. So fast. If Mamet wrote a sitcom about farts, hockey, and farming, it would sound like Letterkenny. Also solid inclusion, both LGBT+ and First Nations. I love it (and Shoresy, the spinoff, but I love hockey), and some episodes surprised the hell out of me.

I read half of the first Expanse novel, way back when it came out. V keeps telling me to watch. I may pick it up when I'm free.
I read the first book and half, said to myself, they’re going to make a tv show out of this will probably edit out a lot of the BS and stopped reading. The authors worked for GRRM or something when GoT was huge: it was obvious that was their plan. I feel entirely validated.

Arrested development is one of my all time favorite shows ever. I haven't ever seen a show that I instantly loved as much as I loved that show.
