Sex & Shenanigans

I suppose it’s probably spelt didst, not didist. But my “ye olde English” isn’t the sharpest.
Fun fact!
The y in ye was never pronounced as a soft Y. It was always a TH.

It's a long story, but to make it a bit short; when the printing press made its debut, some old letters fell out of use from the english language as the presses were imported from mainland europe, where the letter þ wasn't used. þ is pronounced TH and looked similar to y with common handwriting, so it was substituted.

It's 2AM but I hope that was coherent enough to make sense.

Interesting! Iceland uses the squiggly b and I struggled like hell to pronounce those things. þinvellir was pronounced in such a way that blew my little American mind.

They do! They use two of them infact.
ð and þ. þ or "thorn" is a hard TH sound like in THE. Has a heft to it. Think Thors Thoughts.
ð or Edh is a soft th. Further. Farthing.
