Sex & Shenanigans

I think Ursala K Le Guin’s explorations of gender and social dynamics are deep. See also Ann Leckie. I think Octavia Butler and N.K. Jemisen’s thoughts on race and culture are deep. I think Phillip K. dick’s thoughts on what it means to be human are interesting, maybe deep. I don’t think Herbert’s reskins of actual history are.
I agree on Le Guin, she was not only an outstanding writer, she was a groundbreaking one as well. I have been a fan since I was a kid. I have never been able to get into Butler's work, but Jemisen's is as good as anyone I have read. Ancillary Justice is in my TBR pile.

Dick is a great example of being able to write while whacked out on drugs. And I like his work.

I am off to bed.
