I fucking LOVE the Blair Witch. I saw it in the theaters very early in the phenomenon and it messed me up more than most movies ever have. I think Book of Shadows is a severely underappreciated movie that tries to deal with similar themes without just recreating the same movie (looking at you Saw and Paranormal Activity). And taking my daughter to go see Blair Witch on opening night is a peak memory for me.

Paranormal Activity, sure, yeah that's in the same category as Blair Witch, but SAW?! Come on! The only thing they have in common is that they're categorized as Horror. There ends the similarities!

Carrie. The Omen. The Wicker Man. The doll story in Trilogy of Terror," which you can find on YouTube. The Legend of Hell House. Assault on Precinct 13 isn't horror, technically, but it might as well be a zombie flick.
Im not really a big fan of 70’s horror in general but Black Christmas is maybe the first “slasher” flick and it’s not exploitative unlike any of the ones that followed and far better than most of the 80’s slasher’s IMHO.
