Sex & Shenanigans

It's everywhere. Even the most woke blokes can't maintain eye contact at times.
Honestly, if I've got the girls out on display, I don't fault anyone for glancing. I mean, they're beautiful. But there's an undefinable difference between glancing and creeping. You can just feel it, though I can't put it into words.

Change the name on the email to a guy, and suddenly the work was accepted at face value without question. No one thinks they're sexist, but it still effects every aspect of a woman's life.
and also the reason why so many female authors go with their first initial as their pen name. A female sounding name on the cover reduces sales without fault.
It's a safe place to be sexual & feminine without impacting our real life
I'm so happy I've found all of you

Do you have a link to the article???
I'm interested in reading it.
I can't find that specific one, as I recall it was a graphic design firm. But this one is eerily similar.

https://www.self.com/story/workplace-sexism-email-signature-swap

I just googled "company owner trades email with female employee" and there were tons of result with similar situations. Guys don't understand what we deal with at work until they literally step into our shoes.

I just finished the article.
That boss needs to go.
That type of bad management permeates down the line and creates a bad culture.
I hope that woman ends up doing great things.

Hhhmmmm so suit with Ted Lasso socks..... might have to get a pic in both sometime....🤔🤣
Hell yes! Suit fashion is moving at a glacial pace, but, at least the choices with ties and socks are pretty open! Absolutely anything goes - the flashier the better. And Ted Lasso socks are f'ing ace!

eta: I have a guy at work who dresses almost exclusively in black suits, but he's got the best socks. He's got these incandescent (iridescent?) peacock socks that are absolutely gorgeous...

I LOVE the pop of color of a unique sock to a suit. It just adds a tiny bit of personality that lets you know a little bit about the person wearing them. Imo.

I love a good pair of socks.
We are limited in our accessories, socks, ties and watches.

Lol, I havecto hide my boobs at work, no one takes me seriously if I don't. Think more along the lines of a black shift dress with high neck line
Preach girl.... Can't remember the last time I wore something deep collared to work :( Buttoned up blouses and sports bras, or the IT chick gets mansplained into oblivion.
😅
And this is what pisses me off: it doesn't have to be that way.

I've worked in IT for well more than half my life. Networking, SEO, a lot of DNS work, NOC, tech writing, video editing, even some coding, thought I hate it. Worked in several different industries, and some consulting (I am a crappy consultant - I am great at the work, crappy at marketing myself). So I have seen some crap.

But I took a two-year contract doing SEO for an ad agency. Big, not huge, but big enough. And sales guys are the worst. But the CEO was very clear from day one that that shit wouldn't fly. And he followed through, with both employees and clients. It went both ways - one of our coders wore, I kid you not, leather lederhosen, an almost transparent tee that showed his piercings and tats, and a long black leather trench coat. Every day. But the women in the office were free to dress how they wanted. Some when the full business suit, but my direct boss had a fondness for miniskirts and crop tops. She did her job, and that was all that mattered. If anyone felt uncomfortable, they went to the CEO, and he took care of it. I watched a mid-sized campaign get shut down and tossed out the door because the client wouldn't take "no" for an answer. He said he would do it, and he did it, even if it cost him. I respect the hell out of that guy.

The last place I was at, the owner was a sexist asshat. I watched as he asked one of our marketing people, one of the smartest people in the company, to go get him a sandwich, dear. And he was serious. Luckily, he was hands-off, and just played with his money. But he hired people who sucked to run the company. The direct VP over me talked a good game, especially in the corporate meetings. Espoused extreme accountability, which was fantastic. Lived none of it. He was well known for breaking down and screaming at people for mistakes, even if it wasn't their mistake. I had a great manager over me who was very protective, and it was fine. Covid hits, I get laid off. During that, she got promoted, and they put us with sales. It was souless. I couldn't do it.

Now I am completely out of the corporate world, and I am happy again. It sucks. But it sucks more when you know it can be done, that people, all people, can do their jobs and not be harassed. It can be done, but it takes work.

Sorry to have dredged this up for people, and I'm off my soapbox.

"Skulle du kunna hämta kaffe och mackor?"
It's a polite way to ask "would you be so kind to fetch coffee and sandwhiches."
I did. One set. Then proceeded to eat it in front of him. He got the point. I was nervous as hell I'd be chewed out for it, but, nothing was said after the meeting. Proud memory lol, thanks for bringing that to mind.

I just had a client visit me in the office. She was older, wearing a blazer with equestrian pants and high fitted boots. Long beautiful dark hair and an Italian accent.

Every man in the NYC zip code suddenly had a question for me in the conference room. Lunch was also quiet the spectacle - suddenly the founding partners needed to accompany us to lunch. The poor woman asked if we could speak afterwards about her case and whether her company was going to be charged for the lunch where she was basically answering personal questions.

The clothes make the woman for sure. But I was embarrassed by how thirsty grown ass men with million dollar yachts can be.
Sales guys are the worst. I have known two, in 30 years of work, who didn't seem to think they were sex on wheels. And those two guys were fantastic at their jobs.

IT guys are second worst. Come on, Phil, they are boobs. I know you have seen them before, they are your fucking screensaver. Yes, we all saw it, you idiot.

Ok..... but I will not be held responsible for the breaking of lit when I post such a picture, or the reimbursement of money for ruined undergarments from it either!🙄😉

And yet, everyone looks at the white guy to my left for answers instead of me who's running the presentation. Then it gets awkward when he has to say "IDK, ask Tig, she's the specialist"

It's everywhere. Even the most woke blokes can't maintain eye contact at times. There's a great article about a firm that was having a production issue with one of their designers. The owner accidentally crossed emails, and found that the client's were questioning absolutely everything this employee did. Looking further, they found that every female encountered this, and effected their time lines immensely. Change the name on the email to a guy, and suddenly the work was accepted at face value without question. No one thinks they're sexist, but it still effects every aspect of a woman's life.

Why do you think there are so many intelligent, professional woman on Lit? It's a safe place to be sexual & feminine without impacting our real life

As a woman who has been working in IT for most of my life, I feel this so much. ❤️

It has to be some dumb movie/pop culture stereotype. I still don’t get them.

Some of the dumbest motherfuckers I’ve worked with are men. Except one female judge who I had to explain what the law was in a case where she was sentencing my client. She was a special dumb motherfucker.

The other stereotypes that annoy me are people dismissing others with accents because they don’t think they’re intelligent. We have a Latina partner who is frequently ignored because of her accent. And a fellow from the Phillipines.

I think I’m just surrounded by stupid.
I have a buddy who whose parents emigrated from Japan. His name is Takahiro, he's a lawyer, and plays that to the hilt -- hair cut to almost laser precision, perfectly tailored conservative suits. If central casting was looking for "conservative Japanese Businessman," his photo would come up first.

As I said, his parents immigrated to the US. To Georgia. He has the thickest, slow, Georgia accent you ever heard. Throws people completely off. Add to it, people think you are already slow if you have that accent, and he is one of the fastest minds I have had the joy to argue with. He is quite successful.
